Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,
I am reaching out to you today on behalf of my long-time friend, Daniel. I have known Daniel for well over a decade, and throughout all this time, he has been one of the most generous and big-hearted people I know. For years, I have been on Social Security Disability, and back when Daniel was working, he was always there to lend me a hand—buying me meals when I needed help and taking me out to the movies. I’ve also watched him do this for countless other friends over the years, stepping up to buy food and take care of people whenever they were down on their luck.
Now, Daniel is the one who needs help. He is a senior citizen in his 60s, living in California, and he is currently facing an incredibly difficult chapter. He is out of work, and while he receives some Social Security, it simply isn't enough to survive given the high cost of living, rent, and basic necessities here in California. To make ends meet, Daniel had been working a driving job, but with the soaring cost of gas, it became unsustainable and he was actually losing money just trying to work. I would like to help him by raising money at least through the end of the year.
On top of losing that extra income, Daniel is also navigating some challenging physical and mental health issues, making it incredibly hard to find traditional employment or manage these mounting financial pressures alone.
Because I am still on disability myself and living in a board and care home, I don't have the disposable income to help him financially the way I wish I could. That is why I am stepping up to create this GoFundMe for him. Daniel is a wonderful person who has hit a very rough patch, and it’s my turn to try and be there for him the way he has always been there for others.
