I am a brand-new user; first day. I had asked a question yesterday, the 18th of August that led me to become a member, so I may respond to an answer. (whew) The question- is it biblical to "split the tithe?" When Jesus' mother was at the wedding feast at Cana, she told the servants, "whatever He says to you do it."
Obedience is better than sacrifice.
I had begun to split my tithe last year. However, I give half to my local church and half to a local Messianic church in Tel Aviv. And I designate it as "Tithe Portion." Nothing else. The tithe is of course Holy to the Lord.
It is to be used for the upkeep of the temple and distributing to the needs of the poor.
That is in accordance to Leviticus, Deuteronony, Exodus and my favorite place- Nehemiah 13:13.
I must sign off now cause I gotta get back to work.
