Watching a video of a Christian debating the head of American Atheists was super sad. The Christian-- for a lack of a better word--- "destroyed" the atheist. It really is sad. Sad that the guy leading thousands of people down a terrible path, couldn't even prepare a statement defending Atheists- that would be acceptable/ or a logical line of thinking even it were held as a Sunday School debate. I pray that Atheists find something around them, or look out over a sunset--anything that shows them their entire thought process is given to them by the very Lord they claim doesn't exist.
The reverse scenario has happened as well. Neither side should revel or develop a big head over being on the 'winning side.'

I've never understood why so many atheists are angry at a God they don't even believe exists. Surely, there must be some sliver of uncertainty for that to happen? Surely there's no such thing as an atheist then.
Some are angry more at [insert religious affiliation/denomination here] than at God. There's a common adage that they, and Christians, both use: The problem with Christianity is Christians.

Anyone seen the movie God's not dead? Good movie :) and they pray to nothing... :(

It's rather long, but interesting. Within the first 10 mins of James White's (the Christian of course) opening statement,is where you'll find yourself wanting to stop- because that is all you need to see. You feel bad for the Atheist :( (out of respect that he is being humiliated---you might turn it off.)
Enjoy :D

Oh dear, during rebuttals it does get embarrassing for the atheist...this White guy is good!

I think they use the word church to describe a gathering of common interests. The name is likely a little cheeky way of saying an Atheist gathering. It also may be a way of them making a point that they too should be tax exempt or they should no longer be exempting churches if they don't do that. It could also be a point that they too can help charity without a belief in a deity. Whatever the reason, it doesn't really bother me because I can see why they would want to meet, it seems like a logical thing to want to socialize with those who share the same world view.

Yeah, I see your point, but they could call it a club or a society... why make a church and appoint clerics?

Church is also: the Body of Christ, the communion of christians who share the same faith, hope and love.

Without Christ you have no church, but only religion.

The atheists took out the meaning of the word (and reality) "church" and replaced it with what they like to think the church is. Just like some people do with the word "marriage".

It's annoying how people re-define words (and realities) in order to fit their own purposes.

Atheism is somewhat parasitic; for without the host (theism) they would have nothing to prey/pray on. (forgive the pun)

What's so bad about people with a different belief system, or no belief system, having a sense of community and wanting a place that they can meet and exchange ideas?
Why is this such an affront to Christian beliefs? Do they get together and talk about what other people believe in, Christians don't get together and talk about what Jewish or Muslim people believe in do they? I am sure they get together with like minded people and enjoy talking about family and struggles and celebrations, just like we all do, just cause they are atheists doesn't mean they are bad people just ignorant of the love of God.

I come from an atheist country. I dropped out of college cause I was so depressed the way of teaching, the teachers were ultra-atheists. I can tell you, atheist are just confused. (And arrogant, sadly) I remember asking my old teacher a question like "If you believe in the Big Bang theory, what happend 2 seconds before it then? Could be a God, couldn't it?" He was in denial.
It's terrifing really. I started to question those things when my father died, cause I felt all alone in the universe, and I dont want any children, especially not my future unborn children to feel the way i felt. :p Growing up in an atheist enviorment is terrifing haha

Yeah and thats why i was depressed. Like (a lot, if not mostly) atheist are so arrogant and in denial, and when it is teachers who learn the future generation it makes me sad. But I guess it's the same thing when parents are teaching this to kids :p

now now children, it's immature to name call.. lol :)
Don't be condescending to me.
Clearly his professor is ignorant and arrogant hence and idiot.
Any reasonable person must contend the possibility for the existence of God, and every educator must be open minded.

Educators need to be open minded, as long as people aren't preaching hate or intolerance, all discussion should be incouraged.

I agree.

Not only should atheists have their own churches,
but they should, and DO, have their own web forums.

I have no idea why so many of them come here and argue endlessly.
