I came came across this quote today well actually two quotes. Both of them got me thinking.

“Praying and sinning will never live together in the same heart. Prayer will consume sin, or sin will choke prayer.”
― J.C. Ryle, (A Call to Prayer)

It is not a matter of time so much as a matter of heart; if you have the heart to pray, you will find the time. --Charles Spurgeon.

Anyhow, Have you got any quotes you would like to share that have made you think. There's a caveat. The quote has to be at least 100 years old and obviously christian. (Younger is ok though )

Hi @phil36, “younger is ok” means that the quotes can be less than 100 yrs old?

Thanks :)

Well alrighty then :), since that is the case, I'll move along to a pair of favorites from A. W. Pink. The first one concerns evangelism (obviously), and in particular, the evangelist, but like the 2nd quote, it also has something to say about 'true', saving faith and how such faith is demonstrated. Pink died in 1920, so both of these quotes are 100+ years old, just FYI.

Whoops, Pink was born in 1886 and died in 1952, so his quotes may or may not be 100 years old. Here's another one that I love.

Eighty and six years have I served Christ, nor has He ever done me any harm. How, then, could I blaspheme my King who saved Me?....I bless Thee for deigning me worthy of this day and this hour that I may be among Thy martyrs and drink the cup of my Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us, therefore, foresake the vanity of the crowd and their false teachings, and turn back to the word delivered to us from the beginning.

Saw this while reading a booklet 😊

One little sin, what harm can it do?
Give it free reign and soon there are two.
Then sinful deeds and habits ensue
Guard well your thoughts, lest they control you.—DJD

This is from the same booklet too 😇

Do a deed of simple kindness;
Though its end you may not see
It will reach like widening ripples
Down a long eternity—Anon
