I have family who cuss please just say cuss not the other word I hate. Please pray for me I don't want my heart to be defiled. I am saying words when I am mad ughh :(((( I am feel so lost. I dont want it :((( What do you do when people cuss infront of you. I deal with ocd so my mind plays with it and tries to change it to positive ughhh I feel so screwed. Helpppppppp
 
Well if they're in your house tell them to stop. If not walk away. You are absolutely right you will be defiled. Just got done with a teaching on this.
You are a sinner in rehab.
 
no i was delivered of it and hubby too but he started and my mom and sister and hubbys family ughhh its the worst i feel like i am gonner :(((
 
You could always say, "Hey sailor." Just to let them reflect on the fact that they keep doing it, bring it to their attention and maybe they'll come to the conclusion that they are in fact letting it slip more often than they'd like. It might cause them to repent in that of changing their mind about such language and ask the Lord to help them with it. Assuming your family members are Christian.

I think I've spoken to you before about your OCD, but keep in mind God knows your heart and knows all things. Yes, its good that you don't want to pick up the habit of foul language, but also keep in mind that if you do slip, He is still right there. God loves you.

I do not get too upset about it,but tell them it would be nice if they did not cuss,but if they cuss I pop them in the mouth,as long as they are 8 years old and above,which I popped my dad,and grandpa quite a few times,and my mother,but not as often as the men in my family.

One time 3 of my male family members were side by side at the family reunion,and they all cussed at the same time,so I did the ole' Moe Howard slap and slapped them all in a row.

My 7 year old nephew mocks me,and cusses,for he knows I will not pop a child under 8 years old,but I say,you wait you little,and I almost cuss,but I don't,which is a good thing for then I would have to pop myself.

It is like I am addicted to popping the cussers,and I would advise you do not do it,for once you pop you can't stop.

But seriously,I do not like cussing either,but I do not let it bother me.The only thing you can say is it is not decent behavior to cuss,which I did not like cussing even in the world,but that is something I could not understand even as a child,why don't people care about having decent bahavior.
 
If you have ocd study the dictionary or a thesaurus you will not only sound more intelligent than the people you are around you will be more intelligent than them. Cuss words are for people with limited intelligence. G-d has made you WISE to recognize in the "right" way to speak.

Notice how people ask "Do you mind if I smoke?" As they are lighting up, and don't wait for your answer? Or they cuss and say "Excuse my French."? That is when you have to say "Yes actually, I do mind. Please don't do/say that around me, it really does bother me a great deal."

You can't control the other person, but influence is strong. If you always say something or have a disgusted look on your face about it, that will bother them- and sometimes that's enough for them to not do it around you. At the very least, you are not allowing their conscience to brush it off quickly. Dont save them with sugar-coating or making it seem like it's not a big deal- let their conscience convict them of their sin. Without recognizing sin, one cannot recognize a need for change, or for a Savior.

If they claim to be Christian, show them the verse "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, but only what is useful for building others up."

As far as it depends on you, try to ignore what you cannot control, and to cover it up with another thought as fast as you can. Because influence is strong for even you, and bad company corrupts good morals.

Feel free to speak up when people take God's name in vain. I tell them "God's last name is not Dammit, and as a Christian, it really offends me to hear you say His name like a cuss word."

If you find yourself repeating these cuss words, immediately apologize to God, and say "I do not want this in me. I do not want bad company to corrupt me. Please change my circumstances so that I am not forced to have bad company. I pray that my influence can be strong enough to turn bad company into good company, but if that is not possible through free will, please find another way for me, because I wish to honor You with my words and my actions."

Nah, just kidding of course...

What you can do is say loudly "Equal Time" and then praise the Lord, or maybe quote a couple of scriptures, or pray.

If they have free speech to cuss... you should exercise your right to free speech and praise the Lord to offset their... er,... shall we say baloney!

It's not what goes into the ears that defiles a person it's what comes out of the month. If they are using the Lord's name in vine, quote the third commandment. Exodus 20:7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.”

Psalm 19:7-11 The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

Roman 2:18-20, 3:19-20 and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law;19 and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth...3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.


They need to fear the Lord it is the beginning of wisdom, the Law brings that fear, once you have that fear you cry out like the tax-collector for the Lord's mercy.

 
Lesson number one, you can't stop a sinner from being a sinner,unless he gives his life to Jesus.they will always be like that as long as they walk in darkness. you are not to look down on these people,because you was just like them at one time. be gentle and loving ,and let your light shine before them. you want them to become what you are, please, don't condemn. Jesus did not come to condemn the world ,but to save it.
 
Ehh. My mother occasionally cusses when someone cuts her off on the road. It doesn't really affect me, as long as she's not hurting anyone.
 
The language we use is one of the most difficult things to "correct"... once a person has developed the habit of using bad language, it's extremely difficult to eliminate it completely.
