If you have been reading the "movies, movies and oh yeah movies" thread then you knew this was coming. This is the Religion in Popular Culture thread. Which will be looking at religion, God, Jesus, etc... as to how they repersented in movies, music, and shows outside the normal spectrum (meaning everything that is not Christian music/movies/books/TV shows, etc...). Again, stuff that is within the spectrum will be welcomed, but will kind of defeat the purpose of this thread. So as always I will start us off.
Lets discuss a show that we all know makes religious references or in other words is sacrilegious at times too, Family Guy. We Have Peter, who comes from Catholic family, Lois who is Protestant, and the kids basically follow the mothers example of what she believes. Wise cracks about Jesus and the Bible are made, which many have taken offense to. However, sometimes if you realize that it is meant as satire and not a direct hit to damage Christianity (or whatever religion they portray), then I don't think it is much getting worked up over.
