Are bachelor parties biblical? Is it okay for a Christian man to attend a bachelor party for a non Christian man? How about a bachelor party that is in another country where nudity is an accepted practice on the beaches and cosmetic procedures are the norm for women.

I appreciate any insight you can give me as this is causing me a lot of stress since my husband received an invitation to a distant family member's bachelor party. (Note: My husband did not have one before we were married so the issue has never come up before now.) Thanks for sharing your thoughts and relevant verses with me.

:) Just saw a movie about a bachelor party and the mischief and cheekiness they got up to..lol Was a comedy. They woke up with tiger in bathroom, a man and matress on roof, the man to wed had disapeared, one had got married to a woman the same night he met her and they did not remember how it all happened as they happened.A friend of theres drugged their alcohol also to make the night "more fun"...

Have heard of woman feeling concerned when their husband is to attend a bachelor party and they know this man getting married iis a cheeky one so to say...
Strippers, alcohol in the plenty and all kinds of things are common in most bachelor parties as far as I know.

You know your husband and can communicate and talk about it perhaps.
How does he feel about it?
How do you feel?
Can you talk about this and talk about what will happen that night and make you feel relaxed and calm and trusting and at peace.

There are different bachelor parties, depends on the man getting married and his friends.

Its up to you and your husband to decide what is right for you and what you want, beleive etc
Also how is this man to wed and what are the plans for the night...

I know christaians and non christians who have had bachelor parties.

Wish you to feel calm, peace and good communication with your husband regarding where you both stand in the matter.

Some are done in good taste, my husband played cards with his buddies alnight. My brother in law went on a week end fishing trip with all the guys.
I don't see anything wrong with these choices. But going out to a club, not so good. God bless
I can't think of a verse off hand.

Hmmmm..... There are alot of factors to consider. First off, Is you husband open to NOT going to the bachelor party? (If he's considering your feelings enough to skip the party, you probably would nt have much to worry about) If the tables were turned, how would he feel if you were in his shoes? Or better yet, if the tables were turned... what would you consider to be "harmless"? And if your husband did those things, would you still consider them harmless? --- Just a few questions to ask yourself. Bottomline, you know your marriage and your gut feeling. -If you think it's going to cause trouble in your relationship it's best to skip it. Just PRAY and ask GOD for guidance and support. I recommend praying with your husband about it. Also, like someone else said... It depends on what kind of party it is. Are we talking about an innocent evening with guys? playing cards? fishing? OR... Are we talking night clubs, dancing etc... (This could be dangerous territory... and even unattractive for a Christian man)

First, let me say that I have been guilty of just about all the sins connected with bachelor parties at some point in time in my life. This is not the ranting of some "holier than thou" zealot with no grasp on reality. But that said, I believe that unless your husband sees an opportunity to witness to those attending this party, he should seriously consider his attendance. Here are my reasons.

First, if these people (friends, acquaintances, whatever) know he is a Christian, he will in some way be compromising his principles by attending. This is not the image that Christians want to project (I believe). Second, by attending, he will be tacitly approving the lifestyle it represents. And third, he will be opening himself to possible ungodly influences which he would do just as well to avoid. The Apostle, Paul warned his protege, Timothy, to "Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. ... “The Lord knows those who are his, and, Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” (2 Timothy 2:16 & 19)

I know this sounds terribly old fashioned, but as I said, sometimes it must come down to a matter of principle.

Agreed. I don't know where it is written that a bachelor party has to be... uh... disgusting and godless.

In my opinion, a bachelor or bachelorette party should not be participated in by practicing Christian's. I voted no!

Also, a word of caution, don't marry a person thinking you can somehow change him or her (control them).
They are what they are, you either accept them the way they are or you do not.
You will attempt to control them, they will resist, you both will be unhappy, and your'e marriage will suffer.

First will come emotional separation, loss of communication, and resentment. These are only three of the emotion's an over bearing spouse can create in a relationship.

I think the reason for event's like bachelor/bachelorette parties, are a perceived notion that they are forfeiting their individual freedom, instead of gaining a life long companion, people that insist upon having these "parties" are not ready for marriage.

It depends on what's going on at the party. I'm pretty sure it could be a bachelor party without strippers.

I was invited to a bachelor party. . called a stag do in the UK. . there was going to be a visit to a strip club, I was clear from the start that I would not attend any strip club if I was to attend the stag do, I would happly go for a few drinks or some other acticvity, go karting etc. . but not a strip club or lap dance establishment.
As my non Christian friend really wanted me there. . the srtip club was dropped in favour of laser quest. .much better :)

A person shouldn’t go to a party where there is nudity.

Thanks to all who responded to my questons and survey. I hoped to get the opinion of many more Christians. Anyone else? Please vote and/or respond to my questions. I really value your opinion on the matter.

It totally depends on what activities are planned. Just because it's called a bachelor or bachelorette party doesn't mean there's going to be sex and/or nudity. As several here have pointed out, playing cards, a few drinks, watching movies (not porn) ... these are all completely acceptable.

I agree, it depends on the activities.

It doesn't matter if you're single, married, divorced, whatever...and it doesn't matter how the party is called. I think it would be badly seen in God's eyes if we attend a party where there's inmorality and we're aware of it.
