Praying in tongues privately doesn't mean silent. I will sing in tongues. I will pray in tongues, and I do it quietly in a whisper often when in church or at home among other people. It is private.

The problem is that you have is we are not unbelievers of the gift of tongues, we are speaking up against how it is misused in the churches.
We are explaining to you how the Word of God clearly shows what they are and how they are ministered, yet you want to blame the person who interrupts the one doing it wrongly instead of admit how they were doing it was wrong.
This right here in this response showing you doing just what I said blaming the person who was offended, instead of blaming the one who was wrongfully speaking in tongues.
You do know it is a sin to cause offense to another, which is why the bible expressly says to do it in silence or private or there must be an interpreter available !!!
The bible warns about doing things in front of other people to cause them to stumble, but you are defending and allowing this false practice of tongue's to be done.
If there is no interpreter and others are offended then the one doing it is in the wrong, not the person offended !!!

What we are talking about are those who do it openly and out loud, these people are in the wrong no matter how you try to defend them....Their wrong !!!

Correct. We need to be gracious and mind our manners according to the word.
I don't defend people who are speaking in tongues out loud apart from the rest of the assembly who are not doing so. Paul tells the churches to make sure that there is discipline in that regard, and to ensure order in the meeting. That should be part of the job of leaders to do---to safeguard disorder and dissuade members from speaking out causing a disturbance.
We have to be careful not to offend people who are there among us who do not understand what is happening. It could drive them away from Christ, or a certain blessing.

If the leader in a congregation says.".ok..let's pray for awhile." .then everyone could if they wanted to ..pray in their own prayer language to the Lord....that would be decently and in order then....

Not if it is done out loud !!!
It does not matter what the leader, preacher, priest, minister, or whatever you call the person leading the congregation says. The praying in tongue's is still to be done in the manner in which God's word states.
Preachers and pastor's have no right to override God's standards or how the gifts of the Holy Spirit are ministered.
I already answered your question and the answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no, and if it is around others I do it quietly as we are suppose to do !!!

That is right to an extent.......
If the preacher says lets use the next 25 minutes for prayer, than everybody can pray to God in their own way and language. However they must still do it by the example given in the Word of God, it does not open them up to just do it out loud where it could disrupt others in their praying !!!
LOL! The blessing would have been a strong answer from God for the prayer spoken in tongues over blondieindahouse. She most likely forfeited that answer. The friend was not in the wrong, except he, as her friend, should have known she needed instruction in tongues.

Sometimes when we are all together in prayer, pour pastors will ask us to pray in tongues concerning a matter. There is nothing wrong in it when we are all in one accord.

I sing in tongues all the time in public..people just think I'm foreign and happy..they probably would think I was a nut if I "talked" in tongues out loud in front of them..but singing you can get away with..lol
One time I was cleaning the kitchen and singing away without thinking about anything in particular.....and I realized I was singing in tongues to the tune of the " Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald".
..that made me think..why would I be doing that..and inside my spirit I heard.."I wonder where the love of God goes when the winds of november come early.".
.it was the Lord saying.." I am singing about where My love was when that ship went down"..I thought that was so like our Lord.......the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever.

Is there a person interpreting every person speaking in a tongue, then you are not in one accord according to the bible and doing it wrong !!!
If blondieindahouse was praying in tongues, she would be edified. We edify no one by tongues. God edifies the speaker. Why do you misunderstand that?
The only tongues that requires interpretation is the tongues spoken before the assembly. That is NOT prayer but it is prophecy. It is not a person speaking to God. It is GOD, SPEAKING TO THE ASSEMBLY.
It is clear you do not understand the difference between the ministry or prophetic use of tongues by God and the private, grace gift of tongues used in prayer... and are in no position to declare anything wrong. (...and I don't need to use three exclamation marks, either.)
One is God speaking to the people, and the other is the person speaking to God. Paul distinctly discusses this.

I do understand the gift and thats why I stopped him. It was out of order!
I have disbelief in the fashion "tongues" is presented these days.
It isnt carried out according to scripture . I tend to hold fast to the word unlike you.
Amen!..I agree with that statement 100%...it's out of order to just speak out loud in an assembly without proper context....they can speak quietly to themselves..I do it constantly and I don't think anyone hears me..it would be incorrect to just talk out loud in that situation..
