Wasn’t sure were to post this, hence going with miscellaneous. I was baptised when I was 1 year old, and after losing/questioning my faith from the age of 15, was brought back to the lord in 2023. My question is would it be a good idea for me to consider being baptised again? I’m not currently a part of a church, so that is also another hurdle for me to cross. Thank you in advance for your time and thoughts

I think it would depend on the circumstances of your baptism as a child. Do you believe your parents were true believers at the time, or were they simply following a social custom? I was "christened" as an infant in the Methodist church, but I don't consider that a valid baptism. I wouldn't consider a Catholic infant baptism valid either. If in doubt, I don't see any harm in getting rebaptized; but I wouldn't get baptized again after that. Some people think baptism is a magic bullet that cures anything and everything and they get baptized many times.

But isn't baptism all about the word of God not the parents faith? I do not get the meaning there

God's word is silent about what to do in this case isn't it? I believe a person just has to prayerfully do what they think is best in that situation. No harm in getting rebaptized though, in my opinion.

Most Churches frown on re-baptism. I was baptized as a baby but after becoming a Christian at 14yo, I found that baptism in the NT was for believers only. So, I got myself immersed in water at the local Baptist Church.

Thank you for everyone’s responses. Just to clarify, as far as I’m aware my parents believe in God and my father has told me in the past that he prays every night. Aussie, could you clarify what NT means please? And if anybody could refer me to any scripture that might be helpful I would also be very grateful
 
NT= New Testament. You could read the accounts in the Book of Acts where people were converted and then baptized.

Who is it that saves you even if you don't deserve to be saved?
I do not think we can become more acceptable to God by our own feeling or approach to God since God goes always ahead of us and has prepared the path already. We are just in the position of being receivers by mercy alone not by our readiness or willingness.
That is what I think. If the approach is us to me then it changes the idea of mercy.

But wasn't there a man in a church that had little faith just hit his chest saying"God have mercy on me sinner" and the other that took a seat on the front because he was having a lot of faith.
How did God valuate those men in faith?

The other man had lots of pride not faith.

But God does not look at your faith when you first received mercy did he?
in baptism there is word of God that makes it acceptable ..not our valuation
The priest that baptizes can be nonbeliever. In protestant churches the priests don't have to be believers.
