What are some reasons one may need to be baptized again? Is a certain sin you commit that you need to be baptized again? Backsliding? What is concerned backsliding?

You only baptize once in your life. Jesus baptize once as stated on the bible. You just come back to God's loving care.
I like this answer because Christ accepting you after a period of backsliding is an act of grace. There is nothing you need to do as far as rituals, etc., lest you think that your actions (barring your decision to repent) is what returned you to good standing.

However, to further answer your question - there are some churches that may not recognize the church authority of other churches and will require their baptism ritual for church membership. They may not also recognize infant baptism or sprinkling, and may require (after conversion, not as an infant) full immersion. If one is interested in a church that believes this, then this may be a reason to be re-baptized.

The only reason to repeat baptism is if you didn't understand what it was all about the first time, e.g; being sprinkled with water as an infant (not biblical).

No sin or backsliding are reasons to repeat baptism, its not necessary to start over if you screw-up, repentance is the answer to that. Baptism is an outward sign of burying the old person in water and being born from above, becoming a new person in the spirit of Christ. Its a decision that you don't need to redo.

If you didn't have faith in God when you were baptized the first time. Colossians 2 speaks of being buried with him in baptism, wherein we are also raised with him through faith in the operation of God who raised Jesus from the dead.

Being baptized only needs to be done once, but if it was done as a baby then it does need to be done again because as an infant you can not make the decision to follow Christ. That conscious decision can only be made later when you are older !!!

With this being said a person can be baptized again if they have walked away and feel in their heart they want to do as a sign to rededicate their life to Christ.

Catholics are taught they are saved as a baby when baptized. They believe it is a super natural thing they GET . They pervert scripture to come to this faulty conclusion.

"Catholics don't believe Baptism is only a sign. I believe something very profound and tangible happens during Baptism. I believe the Bible when it says that Baptism washes away sin. (Acts 22:16) So for us, it is not as much about what we give during Baptism (i.e., a profession of faith) but it is about what we get, which is salvation. I believe this salvation is for babies too. Jesus said "let the little children come to me." (Lk 18:16) "

The scripture about the little children come to Him is about not hindering anybody from coming to Christ, it has nothing to do with baptism.

The bible speaks on the age of accountability, that until a person reaches the age of right from wrong sinful behaviors they do will not be accounted to them.

Therefore baptism as a baby has no need to be done, it does not mean if you want to do you can't for your kids. Just that we need to understand that baptism has no bearing.

Example: Say a person gets baptized as a baby, but grows up to be a very sinful person and does not believe in God.

That baptism as a baby would be all for nothing as that person would not be saved !!!
