In 2 Corinthians, Paul talks about believers being transformed "from glory to glory." But did you know the New Testament tracks Jesus Himself through a progression of being "begotten to begotten"?
Most of us only think of "begotten" as a one-time event (like His birth in the manger). But if you track the scriptures closely, the Bible uses "begotten" across different stages of His mission—from eternity past, to His earthly arrival, and finally to His throne.
It's a progression of His identity unfolding in power. Look at these steps:
1️⃣ The Eternal Identity: The "Only Begotten" in eternity past (John 3:16).
2️⃣ The Earthly Arrival: The "Firstbegotten" brought into the physical world (Hebrews 1:6).
3️⃣ The Resurrection Triumph: "This day have I begotten thee" at the empty tomb and the throne (Acts 13:33, Hebrews 1:5).
He moves from the unique Only Begotten Son to the triumphant First Begotten from the dead, so that we could be begotten again with Him (1 Peter 1:3).
When you look at "begotten" as a progression rather than a single moment in time, how does it change how you view Jesus's resurrection and His authority on the throne today? Let’s look at the scriptures together

Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

1Ti 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

1Ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Jesus is God and has no beginning so He was not begotten in eternity past.

Some people believe Jesus is eternally begotten but that is a contradiction.

He has no beginning as God.

Psa 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Rom 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

Rom 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.

Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.

Jesus is the only begotten Son of God for He is the only human to be conceived by God.

Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.

Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

Jesus is the first begotten of the dead because He is the first human to be resurrected to heaven.

Jesus as God has no beginning and not eternally begotten.

If He were eternally begotten then He would not have a beginning so eternally begotten is a meaningless term.

The term Son means to have a beginning or else Son has no meaning.

People try to justify Jesus as God the Son so eternally begotten like He is begotten but has no beginning.

But the Son is the man Christ Jesus.

1Co 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him.

Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Joh 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Joh 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

There is only one God the Father.

One God who is a Holy Spirit, and Father is a title for God, and the Son is the man Christ Jesus.
