i'd like to know what your views/experience on this are. But what you really think, honestly, and why you believe it, not what you heard someone else say. Do you believe you receive God's Spirit once you say you accept Jesus as your Savior? When you are immersed in water? Is God Who spontaneously, at His timing causes you to be reborn so that there's no room for doubt about it? etc, etc.

I think you are trying too hard, for too much. There is not one single one of us who thought up Jesus all on his own. Everyone on this forum heard about Jesus from someone else...... that's kind of the way Jesus set it up.
 
Ok, so just what your views are on the matter. What I meant with not what you heard from others is your conclusion on the matter. Some people don't have an opinion on it yet.

hmmmm.... as for me, i always heard about Jesus since little.. BUT i really being born again and know Him personally when i started college.. its hard to tell but at that time in church i feel His presence, i feel His love and i know He is real.. and after that my life changed.. i'm new creation/being born again.. :o
 
Accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior should be our own choice. We may hear about it from someone else and there is nothing wrong in that, but when we truly have a desire to accept Jesus as our Savior, that is when we should do it. Not because someone else requested us to do it. I did accept Jesus as my personal Savior, I heard about it from others and when I felt I need Jesus as my Savior, I did it. That is the first step in our Christian walk. Then we get baptised in water and then we get baptised in The Holy Spirit. Some Christians have received The Holy Spirit before they got baptised in the water. Some have received The Holy Spirit at the same instant when they were baptised in the water. When we desire and seek The Holy Spirit, God will give His promised helper for us.

Accepting Jesus as my personal Savior and getting baptised in water has only changed my life to the better. I wouldn't want to follow anyone else when Jesus is right by my side in everything I do. Most important of all, we need to accept Jesus as our personal Savior, get baptised in water and get baptised in The Holy Spirit to enter the Kingdom Of Heaven.

It's not a formula that your mouth an make happen.

It's the Holy Spirit changing your mind and heart with a power and might that is not of man.

You have to believe, then repent of your sins. That means turning and walking towards God, instead of the broad road that leads to distruction.

I was saved in May of 1980. It was a amazing and supernatural event. God took many things in my life, from Baptist Sunday school as a child, where I learned many Bible verses which I still remembered, to a revival where people were witnessing to me of my need for Jesus, to the man who became my husband, but told me I needed to repent, the one important thing I was missing.

I did not choose God, he chose me! He called me, and told me to serve him. There was no choice, only obedience. From that moment, I was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and the knowledge that God had saved me! I've been following Christ ever since. The Holy Spirit fills a believer the moment they are saved, otherwise, how would they have the power and the strength to follow Christ?

I did get baptised as a demonstration of my faith, but it took 2 years after I was saved. My husband and I were double baptised, he needed that long to do the public demonstration, because he was incredibly shy.

There was absolutely no doubt I was saved, and it was God who saved me in his own timing. No meetings, no sinners prayer, just acknowledging who God was - Jesus the Saviour of the world, and knowing that I had to give up drinking totally, which God made easy by delivering me from alcohol. I never wanted nor had another drink again.

Since then, God has continued to walk with me, and reveal his purposes and callings in my life. And he has continued to refine and transform me. What a wonderful God we serve.

I do believe the Holy Spirit does come to you..and the kingdom of GOD is within us the very moment we surrender to HIM..However...I also believe that we need to utilize and allow the holy Spirit to control, move, direct and give us authority, in HIS name. In other words, we need to ACTIVATE and acknowledge HIs presence, invite HIM into our worship services..ask HIM to help us apply the Scriptures to our lives, and much more. Yes, I believe in fresh infillings of the Holy Spirit. I believe in the baptism of the holy spirit, although it goes totally against my Southern baptist upbringing. Water baptism is an outward sign of and inward change, indeed. It has nothing to do with when the Holy Spirit takes residence. 'Spontaneously at His timing" sounds like an oxymoron! GOD's timing is well known ahead of time to HIM...so it would NOT be spontaneous in HIS eyes or actions. Doubt is a human 'thang' that satan enjoys casting in our direction, causing us to question and eventually begin to be in confusion. You really need to be part of a holy spirit filled congregation, worshipping, reading, studying, together, praying and lifting up the name of JESUS!

I believe you are saved the moment you repent and ask God to come into you heart and become your savior. It is a one time thing and you can't loose your salvation. It's not something to be earned either.
 
I knew without a doubt that I had become born again when I repented and believed the gospel on a Saturday night prior to receiving water baptism on Sunday morning. Ephesians 1:13 - In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation - having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise. Acts 10:43 - To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins. 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, 47 "Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?"
 
I believe when you repent of your sins and believe upon Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour this is evident that the Holy Spirit had been in you, and working to bring you to such a place. I don't believe you get the spirit after you DO THIS but rather you receive the Holy Ghost before you do this, which then enables you to come to Jesus Christ, repent, etc. Nobodys going to say that I came to Christ out of my own will without Gods aiding grace. That's like saying you can come to Christ without the need for God to draw you. So given that, I believe being born again is "while you were dead in trespasses and sins, he made you alive". The time frame is when you were dead is when you are born again, we are only aware of it when we choose, but Gods aware of it leading up to the choice itself. :)
 
I understand what u asking... ,..... Remembering my thoughts and actions before I was born again.. I can definitely say that gods spirit was with me but when I repented and asked Jesus to genuinely enter my life and heart; THEN GODS SPIRIT WAS IN ME.. As for me I physically felt it happen but more importantly I could sense it after that day to this one

My parents grew up Catholic and both became born-again Christians. I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart when I was a little girl. As long as your heart is humble, and you are truly seeking God, when you say that you accept Jesus as your Savior, then yes, I believe you receive the spirit of God. Following this acceptance, however, you must be willing to let God lead your life and follow His will in your life. I have seen many miracles happen when the name of Jesus Christ is used in prayer. I have prayed for things, and God has answered my prayers, sometimes, often directly. I have seen recurring signs that I now understand are not coincidences. Once you accept Jesus as your Savior, your mind and your heart are open to seeing things in a different light. You become more in touch with the REAL world, that is, the UNSEEN WORLD, and your life will never be the same. Once you accept Him, He comes into your life, and you will know it when He does.
