When I first became a Christian (in 1972) we hung out at a Christian coffeehouse/ministry. It was named "The Bridge." And, because of this song as imagined with God as that bridge.

Truth be known, I can't remember any "contemporary Christian" music from the 70's, because most music -- even Christian music -- was neither contemporary nor Christian. It was whiny, self-centered, ain't-I-great-God Pablum to sooth the sensibility of the audience.
