Hi,

I wanted to share this article with as many people as possible.

I find that so many people are unaware of what's happening in the Middle East and I wanted to bring attention to the Kurdish Resistance with its women fighters.
This issue is close to my heart.

The article discusses the war with ISIS and notes down its involvement of women against a group that preaches extreme oppression for women and finds the biggest movie of the year pales compared to it.

I hope you all enjoy reading it and feel free to share.

That article doesn't have any CGI, though.

But jokes aside, I do applaud the spirit and integrity of standing up to something so infamous. I am, however, a little at odds with this:

When she killed an ISIS fighter for the first time, she began cheering loudly, hoping the sound would reach the ears of other jihadis. “I wanted to let them know that their worst nightmare had come true,” she says. “Their friend had been killed by a woman.”
"I wanted them to know that their worst nightmare had come true: me."

There have been rumors floating around about ISIS soldiers being afraid of women because according to them death by a woman means "losing paradise in heaven and 72 virgins etc."

I don't think that is true because ISIS does have women battalions...

Also as in most cultures defeat by a woman is considered shameful [think Judges , Sisera being killed by Jael] and the ignominy of that was what drove the young soldier to cheer loudly.

For these women it is a fight not just for their lives but for pride and honour.

It is as raw and real as it gets...with no CGI effects.

Hey, The BIBLE is clear: "THOSE that live by the sword, die by the sword". What else is new?

Great write-up, Rachel! These women are true heroes. I saw a video about them on youtube once and I really admire their amazing courage and determination. Long live the brave women of the Peshmerga!

And that is where I lose a bit of respect for them. All the same, though, they are brave and I hold them in high esteem for said reasons. :)
