I have been informed by someone who knows Hebrew that about a third of the old Testament is poetry in the original. I disapprove of translating poetry into prose: more is lost than is necessary.

I am still waiting for an answer to my question, though, again, thanks to sanuzza for the Scottish psalter info, and also to Jason for the music and to everyone who has tried to be helpful.

One thing I have learned is that Biblical "poetry" will not be what you expect. As I understand it, the "Lord's Prayer" (one of the two versions... not sure which) was actually written to appeal to the very common method of Aramaic rendering that made certain things kind of "sing-song" sounding, so that they could be easily memorized and repeated (since so few people could read ANY language)

It's a day later, so I don't remember the exact details, but someone responded to your first post who really did seem trollish. I suspect you got caught up in a case of mistaken identity.

Troll spotting is as big on this site as license-plate bingo is on the NJ Turnpike.

And, I would answer your original question, but I've never heard of such a book either.
