A guilty conscience isn't going to change much. Plenty of people feel massive shame using pornography and still use it.
Well, if a conscience gets seared with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:2) this person has departed from the faith and is turned over to the lust they desire. Children are not to that point. And instilling the word of God in them may help them not get to a point of no return.

I disagree that plenty of people feel massive shame when partaking in sinful habits (maybe the first time brings shame, but continuing in these things will harden their hearts to not feel shame anymore - Hebrews 3:13); no longer feeling remorse (Ephesians 4:19).

Well the problem is you don't know when that point is reached. As I said, I am not inclined to share my testimony at this time, but I've felt conviction and guilt (which feel different to me) for over half my life in this particular area (lust broadly).

Also porn is different. Much like alcoholism a drunk can feel shame and it merely have to do with the natural man telling them something is wrong (i.e...hey man you are poisoned, danger).

Porn is unnatural. The way it remaps your brain is very different than sex (even fornication)...so it's slightly different. It looks more like a harder drug addict's brain, I can link a picture if you'd like.

So when you have people that are not believer's thinking something is wrong and they feel guilt and shame in their natural man, what do you think is up with that? Same with substance abuse, or even domestic violence, etc etc. The list can go on and on.

Porn is actually unhealthy physically, both from HOCD and ED; as well as dopamine abuse that doesn't even work like that outside vain imagination land.

I'm just putting that forward. After a few times of sinning and the Holy Spirit gives up on you? That has not at all been my experience.

Certainly, wages of unrighteousness are "meted" but I'm not speaking to that as I don't fully understand it, other than it's bad and it grieves the Lord.

There does come a time when grace is no more...but that could be lifelong or quite quickly. It could be mortal or eternal. I am unable to say (specifically), other than to encourage others to fight against this type of sin and that it is quite serious.

I've only had 3 real wrath moments in my life which goes far beyond just conviction. I know there's a line where you have hardened your heart and the Lord has other plans. I am VERY grateful for that and I praise him for not giving up on me. Something that stops me dead in my tracks and makes it abundantly clear he is serious.

Adsense I had at university and it blocked a lot of sites, but any explicit site it would hijack the speakers and blast a loud alarm system...pretty effective.
Lol think that would have definitely cured me 😆

Bear in mind, this person is not even a ‘man’ in the eyes of the law! (In Hebrew tradition he is).

We have found out that our oldest child (13 years old) was watching filthy pornographic videos on the internet
Trying to block a child from viewing Internet porn will NEVER work. The blocking software is utterly useless, as it allows so much porn to still be accessed. If you take away his Internet service altogether (buying him a flip phone, for example), then he can't do legitimate homework. Plus, he will have boys at school who will show him inappropriate web sites (as a high school teacher, I see this a lot--we can't do anything--public school after all). Thus the ONLY thing that works is to build up a spiritually based internal drive in him to build a fire resistant Christian personality that fortifies him to the point that he can resist this depravity (we all know the extremely damaging effects of porn addiction, to single and to married individuals). Here are some general Biblical guidelines that I have collated from different sources that will help:

Step 1: Guard Your Eyes
Feeding our eyes on sensual images will only fuel improper desires. Confirming the link between seeing and desiring, Jesus warned: “Everyone who keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Using vivid hyperbole, he urged: “If, now, your right eye is making you stumble, tear it out and throw it away from you.” (Matthew 5:28, 29) The point? To resist temptation, we must act decisively and not feast our eyes on provocative images.
Try this: If you glimpse erotic imagery, quickly avert your eyes. Imitate the Bible writer who prayed: “Turn my eyes away from looking at what is worthless.”—Psalm 119:37.

Step 2: Guard Your Thoughts
Because we are all imperfect, at times we may struggle with wrong desires. The Bible states: “Each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin.” (James 1:14, 15) How can you avoid being caught in such a downward spiral? When you experience wrong desires, remember that you can choose how to respond to them. Fight those desires. Tear them from your mind. Refuse to dwell on immoral fantasies.
Try this: When you are plagued with immoral thoughts, immediately stop and pray. Fight wrong thoughts by filling your mind with “whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy.”—Philippians 4:8.

Step 3: Guard Your Steps
When desire, temptation, and opportunity converge, trouble can easily follow. (Proverbs 7:6-23) How can you avoid becoming a victim?
The Bible wisely counsels: “The shrewd one sees the danger and conceals himself, but the inexperienced keep right on going and suffer the consequences.” (Proverbs 22:3) So guard your steps. Anticipate situations that could trigger problems, and avoid them. (Proverbs 7:25)
Try this: Honestly evaluate your weaknesses, and plan ahead to avoid situations that could expose you to temptation.—Matthew 6:13.

DO NOT GIVE UP!
What if, despite your best efforts, you weaken and give in to temptation? Do not lose heart and quit trying. The Bible says: “The righteous one may fall seven times, and he will get up again.” (Proverbs 24:16) Yes, our heavenly Father encourages us to “get up.” Will you accept his loving help? Then never tire of turning to him in prayer. Build your faith by studying his Word. Strengthen your resolve by attending religious meetings. Take heart from God’s promise: “I will fortify you, yes, I will help you.”—Isaiah 41:10.

Good Day!

Unfortunately, my wife and I had to make a very bad discovery. We have found out that our oldest child (13 years old) was watching filthy pornographic videos on the internet. Naturally, we talked to him about this issue and explained the dangers of pornography. He promised to not watch it again, but now realising how sudden such a problem can occur (we are a deeply religious family), I am asking you fellow brothers and sisters for help. We would like to ban all possibilities of pornography from our house, without completely preventing our children from using their smartphones. If someone has a solution, please please help us!

May the Lord protect us.
My husband and I installed accountability software on our pc called x3 watch. It pings an email if any sites are visited. I’m not sure it’s still going, but it helped us. 😐

Sobering point about how porn can rewire the human brain and now there is a growing body of evidence about how using technology excessively can rewire the brains of children and teens. One wonders about the scary nexus of porn in an online format (versus porn on paper or film) and what can happen to our kids!

The good thing is...leastways something that I forget at times "consciously", is that the Lord is present and it's not like you can't turn away with his help. Some of these things leave scars, but eventually I think, scars are only a reminder...they don't actively interact except in memory.

Brain plasticity is another piece of good news...but there is some decent evidence that the longer you do something, the less likely your brain can "repurpose" itself completely. An example of this is smoking cigarettes...Depends on the person but it could take a year or it could take 10.

There were times when I took solid breaks from the internet, gaming, phones...I felt a lot better. Almost like eating meat/veggies again vs candy.

I presume that it's worse for children because their brains are still developing...but it can also rebound much more easily so there is that.

I think limiting the interaction is a reasonable move. It's pretty hard to cut it out completely (referring to tech in general). There's a lot of "organic tech" is what I call it. Basically the Lord's technology/programs (ex: plants/animals/nature ;) ) and I don't ever feel guilty if I spend the day out hiking but I do when I play a video game all day.

I mean I'd feel slightly guilty if I had responsibilities that I was blowing off, but feel considerably worse if I blew them off for technology.

Tech also seems to seriously minimalize interpersonal interaction...which is a given, but it can be used interactively it just requires a bit more effort.

I can see how it would be difficult as a parent to curtail technology use in the same way it would be hard to curtail children wanting candy or treats.

A lot of it is just having too much spare time on your hands and being bored. Consequently, this instant gratification "syndrome" can make you bore easily. Tough situation.

I tried to be brief, but there really is tons to say on this topic. It is something that dominates a large block of a lot of people's lives, so it seems somewhat unreasonable that there is not much to be said. Just hard in a forum post to be succinct without cover pages with the pertinent info and then personal thoughts with interaction following. Also, the info is consistently become more available so I mostly just focus on my own personal convictions a lot of times and what scripture suggests or says directly.

Perhaps this is just not the most ideal platform for bulk information. I just know there are some people who the info is what makes the decision for them, and for others it's the conviction...impossible to know sometimes.

My friend, a family worker told me about porn induced erectile dysfunction? Apparently it’s on the rise among younger men, because ‘normal’ sex doesn’t stimulate men now.
And 10 years ago, the stats for addicted Christian ministers was 65%, my friend reckons it’s a lot higher. So sad 😔
