Bootcamp/Operational Training

13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be
able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Before donning on the individual’s armor, we must be trained on the application and
importance in the usage of each individual item. This takes the demolishing of the old you
and the building of the new you.

Ephesians 4:20-24 (NASB) 20 But you did not learn Christ in this way, 21 if indeed you
have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22 that, in reference
to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in
accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

In order to fight a spiritual war, you must first be trained in the Spirit and the truth that
brings about righteousness and holiness. The closer you abide to such truth and the more
disciplined you become in obedience to the commands given by the ultimate commander
God Almighty.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLV) 18 All of us, with no covering on our faces, show the shining￾greatness of the Lord as in a mirror. All the time we are being changed to look like Him,
with more and more of His shining-greatness. This change is from the Lord Who is the
Spirit.

The closer we abide, allows the Spirit to transform a willing vessel. Life becomes a
transformation or sanctification from glory to the next until glorification in Christ on the
day of resurrection. The very definition of resurrection is a new birth. Our eyes and ears
must be awakened to the spiritual forces and we must be in full submission to our
commander so when the command is given, we respond. John 14:15 (NIV) 15 “If you love
me, keep my commands.

Discipleship is one of the main ways we train and prepare the new believers in Christ, but
also how we keep each other sharp and cognizant towards the war that is raging all around us.

A strategical tactic used by the Romans was called the wedge formation. This formation
was a unit of soldiers in a formation of a V. As they approached the enemy in this formation,
the tip of the formation would begin to split the enemy’s line and force them to divide until
the Romans could surround each side. Satan’s army is no stranger to this tactic. If we are
separated, we will be surrounded. If we stop training, we will grow weary. If we let our
guard down, then we are vulnerable and so are those who depend on us.

Luke 6:40 (NKJV)
40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.

Hebrews 10:25 (NIV) 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit
of doing, but encouraging one another—and even more as you see the Day approaching.

In this training and preparation, you begin to learn how to put on the armor, how to wield
the shield, how to handle the sword, and how you the individual fits within the body of
Christ (the church).

Do not stop training and preparing. Remain vigilant as one unit in the body of Christ, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be ready to stand and be prepared to resist any attempt by the enemy.

Discussion Questions:
1. Have you seen a transformation in your own life? Have seen improvement in your
spiritual walk?
2. When others see you, are you mirroring Christ or someone else?
3. How much are you drawn to the Word of God?
