"The Department of Homeland Security is out of money, and the congresswoman knows that. She says the conditions are inhumane. But yet when we send a bill over to her to vote to improve those conditions, she voted no. Her hypocrisy is breathtaking," Kennedy added, calling the situation "a problem that Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez has helped create."
Mr. Kennedy made a fair statement. It is interesting to watch these elected officials as they feign distress over "inhumane" conditions and yet fail to do that which would alleviate the conditions ... then blame the agents for conditions which are beyond their ability to fix ... agents who know that these same elected officials are withholding funds which would allow them to do the job in the manner required.

I just hope/pray that the numbers of migrants will diminish as they hear of how horribly and inhumanely they will be treated if they come here.

Maybe Ms. Ocasio-Cortez with her outlandish lies and histrionics are the advertising we need to get the numbers of migrants down ...

So let me get this right. We can arrest our own citizens for minor things like jumping a subway turnstyle, or smoking pot, or public intoxication, but we cant enforce our laws against illegal immigrants?.
Is it just me, or am I missing something?

showmanship

that's all it is

and to think these people retire with a big pension

and now they want a raise

and people voted them in

it should be like the joke about the bad actor in live theater...hook around the neck and pull 'em offstage...

I'm not sure la Cortez will last anyway. she is not exactly making friends. Pelosi is making backroom deals ...'tell you what; you make her disappear and I'll make sure you get elected next speaker' :geek:

We call her Occasional Cortex in these parts
I just call her by her name. Doesn't mean I agree with her. In fact, I very much disagree with her on everything except her insistence that placing Manafort in Rikers is uncalled for.

I figure Ms. Pelosi made her bargain with Ms. Ocasio Cortez and Ms. Tlaib (appointed to Financial Services Committee) and Ms. Ilhan (appointed to Foreign Affairs Committee).

At one point, there was little to no freshman support for Pelosi being voted as speaker and, in fact, some freshmen made campaign promises that they would not vote for Pelosi.

When all was said and done, Pelosi received 220 votes ... at what cost, only she and those who were bought off know.

yeah we all saw that one getting 'flipped'

this is one reason the 'till death do us part' politicians on either side cannot stand Trump

they cannot buy him, threaten him or promise him anything he does not already have

a purge would be most refreshing

Democratic congresswoman secretly sending staff into Mexico to coach asylum-seekers

A Democratic congresswoman is sending staff to Mexico’s northern border town of Ciudad Juárez to find migrants returned from El Paso, Texas, under the “remain in Mexico” policy, then coaching them to pretend they cannot speak Spanish to exploit a loophole letting them to return to the U.S.

The National Border Patrol Council’s El Paso chapter and several Customs and Border Protection personnel told the Washington Examiner aides to Rep. Veronica Escobar, who took over 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke’s district, and the local Catholic diocese have interviewed thousands of migrants in Juarez over the past few weeks to find cases where Department of Homeland Security officials may have wrongly returned people.

“What we believe is happening is Veronica Escobar’s office is going … to basically second-guess and obstruct work already done by the Border Patrol,” said one senior union official, who shared evidence with the Washington Examiner from concerned CBP managers and rank-and-file members. Those documents have been held to protect identities.

Migration Protection Protocols, or “Remain in Mexico” policy, anyone returned must be fluent in Spanish because they may have to reside in Mexico up to five years until a U.S. federal judge decides their asylum claim. A Democratic politician's aides reescorting people back to the port are telling officers the Central American individual with them cannot speak Spanish despite their having communicated in it days earlier, CBP officials said.

“What we’re hearing from management is that they’re attempting to return people, and the story was changed in Mexico, where a person who understood Spanish before now doesn’t understand — where a person who didn’t have any health issues before now has health issues," the union representative said.

...

Officials only discussed one port of entry in El Paso but said they knew of three other incidents where Escobar's aides had walked back a “Remain in Mexico” program recipient.

In another confirmed case, a female migrant was brought back to the port after claiming to have been raped in Juarez.

The union official said the onslaught of interviews suggests federal resources are being misspent.

“Resources are being diverted into a foreign country in an attempt to reverse already-decided legal action, meaning these people were found inadmissible under a new program and they must remain in Mexico. They’re trying to subvert that,” the official said.

Escobar's office did not return a request for comment.

I am all for humane treatment, but the fact is that all these people committed a criminal act.
The law states that all who commit criminal acts are to be arrested.

The fact that Ms. Ocasio-Cortez was elected by fellow citizens should terrify all of us.
How can an informed voter vote for these people?

It will be interesting to see if Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, Ms. Omar, Ms. Tlaib continue in their representation of the citizens in their home states. That would be very eye-opening as to the days in which we are now living.

she was voted in by only 11.8 percent of the populace. that is a very low percentage

that is what is actually scary. of course NYC is a bastion of dem support anyway

With 98 percent of precincts reporting as of Wednesday, the State Board of Elections shows 27,826 registered Democrats cast votes in Tuesday’s primary in New York’s 14th District. With 235,745 registered Democrats as of April, according to the BOE, this comes out to a turnout of around 11.8 percent.
This turnout is about the same as in Crowley’s last competitive primary, in 2004. According to the Federal Election Commission, 12.4 percent of Democrats in Crowley’s district voted that year, which was a presidential election year, unlike this year, and saw congressional and state-level primaries on the same September day. New York has since moved its congressional primaries to June.
For comparison, when Crowley was reelected to Congress two years ago, in 2016, he faced no primary opponent and nominal competition in the general election, but in the general he received 147,567 votes as many more voters turned out on Election Day than typically do for party primaries, even when they are competitive. Ocasio-Cortez will herself now face Republican Anthony Pappas and Conservative Elizabeth Perri in the general election, but is expected to win easily.
Regardless of the low primary turnout, Romalewski characterized Ocasio-Cortez’s win in the same way as most other observers: a massive upset.
“The challenger was able to do something with her supporters that the incumbent wasn’t,” Romalewski said. “And that’s surprising given that the incumbent has the power of incumbency, has the power of the party machine behind him, and has the power of endorsements, and long time political support in both counties, Queens and the Bronx, and that was not enough to hold off the challenger. So that’s a big upset.”

Protesters deface U.S. flag, fly Mexican flag over ICE facility in Colorado

Lights for Liberty rallies nationwide oppose possible immigration roundups

Activists pulled down the U.S. flag and replaced it with the Mexican flag Friday outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Aurora, Colorado, part of a national protest against the Trump administration.

A crowd estimated at more than 1,000 rallied to protest the possible federal roundups of some illegal immigrants outside the detention facility, where some protesters broke through a barrier and upended the flags, according to local news outlets.

The American flag was eventually run back up the flagpole, but upside down and spray-painted with the words, “Abolish ICE,” as shown in video and photos.

The Lights for Liberty demonstrations were held Friday in cities nationwide, including Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City, San Antonio and Seattle.

The protests were billed as an expression of outrage against “the horrific abuses of the Trump administration in human detention camps.”

From the lips of Ilhan Omar:

Ilhan Omar: We treat dogs better than migrant children
PHILADELPHIA — Rep. Ilhan Omar said the migrant children being held in detention centers at the U.S.-Mexico border are treated worse than animals.
...
“These people are faced with cruel decisions, inhumane decisions on what they should do to make their children’s lives better and what they should do to make their own lives better,” she said Saturday at Netroots Nation, an annual conference touting progressive priorities.
“One of our members said to me, if there were dogs in those cages, every single member of Congress would vote to make sure that all of these cages didn’t exist any longer. We live in a society and govern in a body that might value the life of a dog more than they value the life of a child who might not look like theirs,” she said.
...
A day earlier, Vice President Mike Pence toured a Border Patrol facility in Texas where the media was shown hundreds of men in cages who did not have room to lie down. “This is tough stuff," Pence said Friday at a press conference after his visit in McAllen, Texas. “That’s the overcrowding President Trump has been talking about. That’s the overwhelming of the system that some in Congress have said was a manufactured crisis."
“But now I think the American people can see this crisis is real," he added.

Please note, the family of Ilhan Omar immigrated here from Somalia when Ms. Omar was 12. In 2018, Ms. Omar was elected to the House of Representatives ... notwithstanding the fact that according to her "we value the life of a dog more than [we] value the life of a child who might not look like theirs".

Huh...

Joe Biden is re-opening a child migrant detention center, but neither the establishment media nor left-wing politicians appear to care. The response is starkly different from when President Trump operated the detention centers he inherited from the Obama-Biden administration.
Once known for crying at a fence overlooking a parking lot, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has – at the time of publication – said nothing about Biden’s new move to “put kids in cages.”

maybe she is just worried about the illegal migrants starving to death in the detention centers. If they havent been shot to death first by the border guards,

I dont know what the conditions are like, but jail doesnt seem to provide much solution to your problems.
Why cant the us and mexician govts work together for a solution? Obviously its just gonna continue.
