"Is bossy a bad word?
Celebrities are joining the Ban Bossy Campaign to encourage girls to take on leadership roles.

The campaign was created by the Girl Scouts of USA and LeanIn.Org, a nonprofit founded by Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's chief operating officer and author of the book Lean In.
"I think the word 'bossy' is just a squasher," says Glee star Jane Lynch, in a video for the campaign.

"I'm not bossy," Beyonce says in the video. "I'm the boss.""

[1 Timothy 2:12]

We have seen the fruits of letting strangers raise our children. I think we should stop seeing children as a career inconvenience and see them as an investment to a better society.

There is another ''b'' word for controlling women.

You do not have to be ''bossy'' to be a boss. The best bosses I have had were servants and leaders, not being bossy.

Women not only can be leaders, they were in the bible. Just not spiritual leaders.

????????

Just not spiritual leaders.
.

Judges 4:4 Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.
.
Deborah was a spiritual leader.

Joel 2:28 "And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

Come up with real examples, not that there is one example of one.

By the way to be a spiritual leader, a priest, in Deb's day you had to be a Levite....and male.

Just more feminist propaganda that's going to leave women feeling more unfulfilled in the long run. This stuff brain washes them into pursuing a character makeup that is beyond their intended design. In a generation, when women are "bossy", the liberals will shake their heads in amazement and wonder how in the world women became so rude! Failing to realize they created yet another social problem.

Just goes to show liberals aren't against bullying. They're grooming a new gender to be the bully.

I agree that you do not have to be "bossy" to be a boss, whether male or female. A good boss is patiently and consistently strong, without being condescendingly demanding or abusive. Wise women in the workplace understand this, as not understanding it can definitely hold a lady back professionally. This is as damaging and ungodly as men who step on others to get ahead. They may "get ahead" for a season, but eventually someone will stomp on them as well, as people who do this usually leave a trail of unethical or illegal behaviors.

There has been a misunderstanding among women for quite some time that being strong somehow means we have to be overly aggressive or pushy. I have never found this to be the case professionally. Being respectful of my boss/co-workers and giving my all to the performance of my duties/not expecting special treatment has been enough.

I do have to say that I find it somewhat offensive to have a woman who has built a career upon flaunting her body to the masses being a spokesperson for women in the workplace.

lol. Anyone else think it's a little bossy of them to try to tell people they can't say bossy? :P

Ephesians 5:17-21 (KJV) [SUP]17 [/SUP]Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. [SUP]18 [/SUP]And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; [SUP]19 [/SUP]Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; [SUP]20 [/SUP]Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; [SUP]21 [/SUP]Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

1 Peter 5:1-7 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, [SUP]2 [/SUP]shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; [SUP]3[/SUP]nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. [SUP]4 [/SUP]And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. [SUP]5 [/SUP]You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. [SUP]6 [/SUP]Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, [SUP]7 [/SUP]casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

When Spiritual leaders become overlords, the sheep follow that example in their rebellion. In psychology, it's a proven fact that victims become oppressors themselves. You'll reap what you sow.;)

Its not the gender, attitude is the problem.i had lady bosses(1 indian and another not indian),...even though they were good and we helped each other sometimes(i had fights with them also sometimes) and i respected them, society doesn't like them....Depending on gender sometimes they might behave in peculiar ways to be safe also...am not talking about anything physical,i guess it has got something to do with pride, insecurity etc because of the other gender's dominance(it could be in both ways depending on the work environment and which gender dominates)...
Still everything has an order,
i heard ayan rand(even though an atheist) once say "that a woman cannot be a commander in chief of army".

When i think; a man cannot deal with a woman who is going to give birth to a child(i think most men don't have any clue how to deal that..even though i am unmarried am saying this because as a man.i know men are zero when it comes to deal things like that..so mostly a woman naturally controls areas more painful than man can think-this might be my personal stupid understanding, but the natural way of managing things is the best way be it man or woman and like Jullianna already quoted here,...

And its just the same with women, when its a men dominating work place..its very true..

i think we all misunderstand it when we say that "its a man's world" or "a women's plea is heard, but not man's" because eventually and ultimately when we ignore God to whom everything belongs, balance is destroyed.

The women who really taught me something were those who dealt with me patiently and also cared for me..its not carnal, they really did build me a lot....although such women i have found very rare in society.

When we Honor God,He will restore the balance that we destroyed(by forsaking him and giving due respect)Because God is a Spirit and, beyond gender and form..

The anti-bossy campaign is to combat what I see a lot in the business world. An authoritative man will be called ambitious, a "go-getter," a leader, or other positive/military terms. A woman with the same qualities is frequently called bossy, pushy, rhymes-with-"witchy," or other negative adjectives. It's a campaign for equality in business.

While this is still a problem on the micro level, there are now companies that discriminate against males, which is equally wrong. It should be the best fit for the job. Period.

Ms. Misty77: I wonder what names Lydia, the seller of purple - evidently a successful woman in business - might have been called in her day? Proverbs 31 also describes a women well able fend for herself in the business environment, buying and selling property, etc.

Blessings.

Surveys after surveys have shown over the decades that women prefer to work for men over women.

I had the hunch this thread reminded me Vasti, the queen replaced by Esther, the very moment she despised her King... That King enforced the imperial "law" to have women under THEIR control (There´s a book to compare to Gen 3:16).

:p

Beyonce is behind?

I watched a video were she said an spirit takes control over her each time she sings... That´s why I removed those songs I liked to hear from hers.

I read 1984, in, well 1984. I continue to believe it is the most important book after the Bible written. It is uncanny and prophetic how brilliant Orwell was. Day after day we inch closer to his dystopian society. This word banning garbage (it's not just bossy) is right in line with his newspeak of allowable words.

Deborah was a judge...sigh. Thats not a spiritual leader.

A prophet is not a spiritual leader...sigh.

Come up with real examples, not that there is one example of one.

By the way to be a spiritual leader, a priest, in Deb's day you had to be a Levite....and male.

Exodus 15:24: Miriam, the daughter of Aaron was a prophet and one of the triad of leaders of Israel during the Exodus from Egypt.

Judges 4 & 5
: Deborah, a prophet-judge, headed the army of ancient Israel.

2 Kings 22:14; 2 Chronicles 34:22
Huldah, a prophet, verified the authenticity of the "Book of the Law of the Lord given through Moses" - the Book of Deuteronomy. She triggered a religious renewal.

Acts 9:36 The author of Luke referred to a female disciple of Jesus by her Aramaic name Tabitha, who was also known by her Greek name Dorcas. She became sick had died; St. Peter brought her back to life.

Acts 21:8
: Philip the evangelist had four unmarried daughters who were prophets.

Philippians 4:2
: Paul refers to two women, Euodia and Syntyche, as his co-workers who were active evangelicals, spreading the gospel.

Romans 16:1
: Paul refers to Phoebe as a minister or deacon of the church at Cenchrea. The Greek word which describes her function is "diakonos" which means literally "official servant." She is the only deacon in the Bible to be identified by name. Some translations say "deaconess;" others try to obscure her position by mistranslating the Greek as a simple "servant" or "helper". Paul later refers to Phoebe as a woman, calling her "our sister." This prevented later church leaders from hiding her gender as they did with Junia by changing her name and implying that she was a man.

Romans 16:3
: Paul refers to Priscilla as another of his "fellow workers in Christ Jesus" (NIV) Other translations refer to her as a "co-worker". But other translations attempt to downgrade her status by calling her a "helper". The original Greek word is "synergoi", which literally means "fellow worker" or "colleague." [SUB]1[/SUB] It is worth noting that Paul refers to Priscilla and her husband as "Priscilla and Aquila" in this passage and as "Aquila and Priscilla" in 1 Corinthians 16:19. It would appear that the order is not important to Paul. As in Galatians 3:28, he apparently believed that there is no distinction between male and female among those who have been baptized into Christ.

Romans 16:7: Paul refers to a male apostle, Andronicus, and a female apostle, Junia, as "outstanding among the apostles" (NIV) Every Greek and Latin church Father until Giles of Rome (circa 1000 CE) acknowledged that Junia was a woman. [SUB]2,3[/SUB] After that time, various writers and translators of the Bible resorted to various deceptions in order to suppress her gender. For example:
  • The Amplified Bible translates this passage as "They are men held in high esteem among the apostles" The Revised Standard Version shows it as "they are men of note among the apostles". The reference to them both being men does not appear in the original Greek text. The word "men" was simply inserted by the translators, apparently because the translators' minds recoiled from the concept of a female apostle.
  • Many translations, including the Amplified Bible, Rheims New Testament, New American Standard Bible, and the New International Version simply picked the letter "s" out of thin air, and converted the original "Junia" (a woman's name) into "Junias" (a male form of "Junia"). Again, it was probably inconceivable to the translators that Paul would recognize a woman as an apostle. Incidentally, there are no Junias' mentioned in ancient literature and inscriptions; it was apparently an unkown and unused name.

Too bad that many today confuse leadership with spiritual authority.

This is proof that the real agenda behind false teachings like female pastors is not women wanting to be servants to the flock but a misconception, purposely so, to equate being a pastor/spiritual leader with position and power.

I will try again...

a prophet is not a spiritual authority nor a pastor.

leadership is not a spiritual authority, exclusively.

None of the examples given dispute in any form or way my previous statements that women cannot, biblically assume spiritual authority over men.

THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WORK PLACE SITUATIONS.

NOT BEING ALLOWED SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY OVER MEN DOES NOT MEAN WOMEN CANNOT BE BOSSES IN THE WORK PLACE OR EVEN POLITICALLY.

Deborah is not an example of feminism. She was made a judge to shame the men who did not step up to the plate.

The Pirscilla and other prophets and servers in the ministries of the apostles, these women do not have, any of them, spiritual authority. Again, using these as examples only points out the feminist agendas and their seeking power, not serving the Lord as we all should do.

Wake up, please. You have been duped by modern thinking and agendas that are, at their core, anti-christian.

Just a fyi, Paul was not a chauvinist. He accurately expressed biblical principle in 1Timothy 2:12....and Ephesians 5:22, and so on.
