If Peter, Paul, or any of the original disciples were here, and writing here on Christian chat how many of us would deny what they are saying? How many of us would recognize the truth which the bible teaches if we met Paul today? How many of us only hear what pastors and those who call themselves reverend, or have some sort of title, just because they have the title? Out of all the bible characters I know of maybe 6 that had formal education or were well off enough to have influence. Three of those 6 were murderers. So if the mass murderer Paul were to preach in your church would you even acknowledge that he is teaching the truth? What about the murderer Moses??? Or what about a fisherman who reeks of dead fish came and shared Jesus with you what would be your impression of him? Far too many of us follow a doctrine or a pastor or a whole denomination because we grew up with it. It is much harder to unlearn something than it is to learn it. I would say that most professors of Christianity have much to unlearn. God told us to study His word, not bits and pieces of it. Many denominations have their traditional doctrines with their out of context parts of verses. God wrote His word as a whole. To remove even a part of it. To overlook one verse because it does not agree with our preconceived views will leave us out of heaven. Many try to say that the whole Old Testament has no meaning today when in fact most of what Jesus Himself said were direct quotes from it.
I am going out on a limb here, but I believe that if Jesus were here today and He came to church we would do the same thing the pharisees of old did to Him. We would not recognize the Holy Spirit working in a stinky fisherman we knew as Peter. With our salvation on the line we need to know the voice of the Holy Spirit and His job. Those who think the Holy Spirit does not convict of sin must read their bibles because in my bible the KJV ONLY I am told in John:16:7&8: "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:" If your counterfeit translation states anything different then this throw it in the trash! Jesus also tells us another job of the "Comforter" or Holy Spirit in John:14:26: "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." The Holy Spirit will guide you into ALL truth (John 16:13) and bring to your remembrance whatever Jesus put into our minds through reading and studying His holy word the KJV bible. To argue against what is written in God's holy word the KJV bible, even if someone can find a counterfeit translation that states it differently, would be dangerous at best.
....this is kind of like the same principle as when you asked me a similar question that we joked about.
