Using the word father as relates to a positional term of office, whether the head of a household or in a spiritual, familial sense is done all over the Bible, but has nothing to do with the disobedience and sin of addressing a sinful man as your father, or Holy Father, the latter which our Lord Jesus ONLY used of God and simply an egregious sin to address a Pope so. What part of "call no man your father upon the earth" do you not understand?
catholics are far more interested in their own traditions than what it says in the bible. When I was on one of their websites I quoted something out of the bible, which they imediatly deleted it and shut the thread down. They only refer to the bible if it backs their beliefs. One catholic even told me he didn't like the bible.

The reason we have scripture is to fix the truths of our faith, the faith of our Lord Jesus and the apostles, as scripture even clearly states apostasies and false prophets would come. Catholicism is a masterpiece of corruption of and adding man made "traditions" to the word of God in this regard, to try and exert power, control, over men. Calling priests father, the Pope Holy Father, is very purposeful to usurp God's position and, therefore, gain power over men, the very real command of Christ to call no man father all about the preeminence of God, not priests or Popes, not any sinful, corrupt men. This is also the real reason Catholics banned people having scripture in their own languages, as it would expose the beast for what it is, and it has.
So, when Paul says he has become their spiritual father, that's okay, but when my local priest who is a spiritual father to his parish is called "father" that's wrong?

It amazes me how every cultish corruption of truth comes with a long winded explanation as to why the Bible doesn't say what it clearly says. It's like some propaganda minister, trying to wear you down until you'll agree with any old blather, just to shut him up. Jesus said it, but He didn't really say it. Uh huh.
Never ask a Catholic why, if you have anything else to do for the foreseeable future.

Can I say what you are saying makes no sense if I want to know what a Mormon believes I would ask a Mormon then I can decide to disagree as a society we are really loosing the ability to debate civilly, Paul went to a place called mars hill to debate the Greeks and it went really well

And all the cults to the same thing. Mountains of man made rhetorical spaghetti, pages of endless opinion blather over such as one word in the Bible, always out of context. What it amounts to is they have to twist everything into a pretzel, to obscure what are, actually, fundamental truths they're refuting. It's always a very long winded, uphill battle, to try to turn the truth into a lie. You know you're dealing with deception, when the smoke and mirrors goes on and on so. All the cult people on CC do this, huge posts, often copied and pasted from cult websites. If they only knew that nobody may be reading them, beyond the first error spotted.

You posted the blather, and I responded. You seem to know nothing of struggles for truth, of Paul, with such as the church at Jerusalem. It's nothing to me whether you like or don't like what I say.

Yes he did. He calls himself their spiritual "Father". He says that he is "father" to Timothy. Peter refers to himself as a "father" to Mark.
Okay. So, you cannot have an intelligent discussion or listen to an argument because it was TOO LONG? I'm sorry, that's just sheer ignorance.
You realize that your argument here can be easily applied to Sacred Scripture?
Why do they need such a big book...why didn't God just like say it in a few sentences?
Because He gave you a mind and reason. So either use the gifts He's given, or stop attacking those who back up their arguments with citations and proofs.

Jesus said a number of things that shouldn't be applied absolutely and universally, such as "call no man father." Some people say Jesus used hyperbole. It's fine to call your dad "father" (your immediate ancestor), or to call Abraham "father" (our ancestor in the faith). For a man like Paul, it's his privilege to say he has been a "father" to others. The Bible proves these exceptions. But, to give the religious title of Father to our pastors seems to completely gut Jesus' teaching against calling no man father.

Let's think about it from the other side,
1- a pastor is a leader just like a dad of a household of Abraham or Paul I really don't see the difference if the local congregation is part of the universal Christian church. Honestly I think this topic can easily be debunked and also if there are christians within the Catholic Church we should be addressing more detailed questions of faith such as the Eucharist
