Your dragon and unicorn occultism approves of the death penalty for persons holding non-Calvinist theological opinions?

You said Calvin advocating for the execution of his theological opponents was merely Calvin upholding civil law.

John Calvin was an arrogant, domineering, vindictive man. Calvinists tend to be like him.
You are still lying. But falsely accusing others is your nature, for you are just like your father.

See Jesus' words in John 8 v 44. I hope you come to believe the Bible

soon and stop teaching about your phallus and third eye stuff.

And all that other garbage you post. Were you in a coven?

Also do please let me know when you have read Genesis chapter two. Verse 17 specifically.

Yes, I have read the thread and you were misquoted with regards to the crime and the punishment!

With regards to John Calvin based his behaviour definitely had overt narcissistic tendencies as well...

I would have to search through my files but there is research being conducted of the link between adherents of this soteriology and narcissism, to me just makes sense, I was created for election/selection.

I spent some time looking into the information you posted about unicorns and the many connections to the occult, the third eye and other stuff.

Not good!!!

The title of this thread says "Calvinism is gospel." The word "gospel" means = good news.

So, I ask: Is Calvinism good news? If so, is it good news for all men?

I say the gospel (good news) is the story of the life, the death, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The good news is that those who have faith in Jesus' atoning sacrifice are spared the second death.
There are a number of ways to express this, such as saying Jesus paid the sin debt. Of course faith

is necessary, for those without faith cannot please God. They will suffer the second death, because
although Jesus' sacrifice was sufficient for all, it is only efficacious unto those who believe. Life is
found in Jesus Christ Who is Himself life. Those not found in Him at the end of this age perish.

I've thought that myself for some time. The debate on Calvinism has been a very popular feature in this forum going back years. In fact, there were a couple (at least maybe more) of staunch Calvinists who were banned because of how nasty they got.

There seems to be a growing nastiness in this thead with people being called liars and so on. This just takes the entire thing to a different level and shows a growing anger and hostility towards either side but the thing with tulip pushers, is that they are judging non-tulip participants from a position that they believe is superior as they alone 'acknowledge what God' said while non-tulips are being told to repent etc.

James White, a staunch supporter of Calvinsim, a full blown tulip adherent, refers to John 6, Romans 8 + 9 and Ephesians 2, as 'proof' that mankind is dead thereby making it impossible to choose let alone receive Christ. As is typical with hardline Calvin enthusiasts, he chooses to ignore the literally hundreds of verses in which God commands repentance. Acts 17:30 being just one.

Now the logical question asks 'does God command repentance from those who are deaf, blind and basically unaware God exists? Further, if you believe such a thing, then you must, by consequence, also believe God is having a little fun with those He has already condemmed to the lake of fire. That, hardly brings to mind God as described in scripture as being love, or extending grace or any other attribute that indicates God is also patient and longsuffering.

IF God is truly patient and longsuffering, what is He waiting for? Can't He force those He has chosen to the exclusion of all others, into salvation? Perhaps He is waiting for those still to be born? If that is the case, then why is He also telling people to repent?

The selective use of certain verses to illustrate belief in Calvinism can only do so, to the exclusion of the plethora of scripture that indicates otherwise. It should become obvious that perhaps we do not quite understand how God views 'chosen' as He is hardly in the business of saying 'repent' and then witholding grace from those who do.

I am not sure if all Calvinists, reformed or similar believe that God puts His Holy Spirit into unsaved people in order to 'save' them, but that is a ridiculous conclusion. The Spirit of God does not enter into those who are without Christ. He does convict those lost in sin, according to scripture, but does not indwell them.

To me they were born first and everything else proceeds from that. And what is clear is that it
is born of God's will, not man's... and this is plainly stated, but free willers reject that outright.
It says they were given the right to BECOME children of God. They were not children of God, yet they believed.

Yes, given of by God, who opens people's eyes, ears and hearts to receive and understand what the natural man cannot.

The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians ch 2 v 14

what is the concern about Calvinism that is so critical? I don't get it. Can some explain Calvinism without the TULIP?

mindofflesh.png

The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8 v 6-8 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2 v 13-14

"Calvinist" is often used simply as a logical fallacy. I have made this point before and been
told I claimed Calvinism does not exist, but this just shows how dishonest people are.

People have CDS and slander those they disagree with. They even lie about Calvin, repeatedly.

People sling all kinds of abuse at me because I uphold what the Bible actually says.
Some of those who disagree have a habit of contradicting and denying what the Bible
explicitly articulates, and sometimes they rewrite the very words of Jesus Christ Himself.

Blasphemy is not beneath them either. Some of it is disgusting, yet they call themselves Christian.

We need to be careful of how we interpret scripture especially when it is taken out of context to support a belief we
hold to be right.

A spiritual person is one who is walking after the Holy Spirit, not an unsaved individual who suddenly receives Christ because
God revealed Himself in a way that could not be resisted.

If you continue reading in chapter 3, you will find that Paul is actually admonishing those who are already believers as he states

1But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. 2I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, 3for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? 4For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human?

Obviously these people are believers but they are still making bad choices and are not following the Holy Spirit, but their own flesh.

So, saying the spiritual person is the one God has chosen is not accurate in the context of the letter Paul is writing. That, is the type of thing that is misleading and shows misunderstanding and incorrect interpretation of the text.

I am referring to the picture with the verse. If someone is claiming that shows that you cannot receive any truth or choose Christ, that is incorrect because the reading of the letter, especially chapters 2 and 3, indicates believers who are operating out of their flesh and not unbelievers who do not understand salvation. Further, why would Paul be admonishing the Corinthian congregation if they were not saved?

Really? smh. I don't understand why people have an issue with this topic. I do find in History acts of John Calvin that were not Christ like. Yet those who hold to him dismiss his action based on the "laws of the land " at that time. That is mind boggling to me. Paul said 1cor 6:12

"All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."

The idea that John Calvin as reported in History could support killing people based om the law of the land for reasons that were not worthy of death is funny to me.

“Everything is permissible for me,”
This phrase reflects a common saying among the Corinthians, possibly used to justify their actions. Paul acknowledges their claim but seeks to correct their understanding. The context is the Corinthian church, which was influenced by Greek culture, known for its philosophical ideas about freedom and the body.

but not everything is beneficial.
Paul introduces a principle of discernment, highlighting that not all permissible actions are beneficial. This aligns with the biblical teaching of seeking what is edifying and constructive (1 Corinthians 10:23). The focus is on the impact of actions on oneself and the community.

“Everything is permissible for me,”
Paul repeats the phrase to emphasize the need for careful consideration of actions. The repetition serves as a rhetorical device to draw attention to the issue of Christian liberty. It reflects the tension between freedom in Christ and the responsibility that comes with it. This mirrors the teaching in Romans 14:14-23, where Paul discusses the importance of not causing others to stumble through one's exercise of freedom.

but I will not be mastered by anything.
Paul asserts the importance of self-control and mastery over one's desires. This is a call to avoid being enslaved by habits or behaviors that can dominate one's life. The concept of mastery is significant in the Greco-Roman world, where self-control was a valued virtue. Paul’s teaching here aligns with the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23, which includes self-control.
