My point is that ping-pong should end before it gets to the point of lobbing ad hominems.
Or people shouldn't lie to begin with. We're not talking about substance, but behavior. It is very often the case that those who believe themselves to know most about God act the least like Him.

Yes this true, even if we say Calvin was a man of his time, surely if Paul was able to realize the error of his ways, it is legitimate to ask whybe Calvin did not.

As far as I know he defended his actions to his death, regarding how he dealt with the people in Geneva and those he considered heretics in fact he defended his actions.

A man who was well educated, literate, had access to the scripture and learned the Greek as well, something is amiss and it is fair to recognize it.

My guess is that Calvin had a harsh/stern/unloving father who punished him unfairly.

Yes, folks should not lie, but I know from experience being called a liar, when the truth was that I misunderstood something--
for which I apologized numerous times without receiving forgiveness. (You probably know who lobbed the ad hominems.)

One must be saved before they can believe the Gospel of their Salvation !

Eph 1:13

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

One had to be saved in the first place to spiritually hear the word of truth, then faith or believing follows.

In fact, Paul places being saved before calling by the Gospel in the purpose of God here 2 Tim 1:9

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Notice the order, hath first saved us, then called us [by the Gospel] with an holy calling. We are called by the Gospel after we are saved 2 Thess 2:13-14

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 30

Makes sense.
Apparently he was pushed into studying the law by his father, it is documented that his father was very harsh with him

Best just to ignore, they are always looking to set traps, @Genez saw it a long time ago, I should have heeded his insight back then many months ago.
Dear Lord your hypocrisy knows no bounds!

You post 50 times a day in a thread started by, and commented on, by those that believe God’s Sovereignty faaaar outweighs man’s choices.

And then you have the gall to say just ignore us!?

Please describe the gunman forcing you to read and comment on this thread day and night!

We can send the authorities!

This wasn't a misunderstanding. It was a deliberate false characterization that has been addressed numerous times.

Probably a good idea to follow your own advice, make a bet you'll soon forget, and call it a day.

You illustrate the need to stick with discussing doctrine systematically--and calmly.

Eph 1:13 has already been explained - so lets look at 2 Thess 2:14
the calling is by the gospel (2 Thessalonians 2:14), it is not some irresistible force, which is the "I" in TULIP,

Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 2:14

Well, I doubt the accusee intended to lie, so my advice is for both sides to apologize for misunderstanding and to seek clarification.
I learned to go the second mile and invite/encourage anyone to reprove me with love whenever they think I am sinning--which I am reiterating right now.

Eph 1:13 has already been explained -
Not so fast. The Gospel is hidden to them that are lost 2 Cor 4:3-4 so it cant be the gospel of their salvation. The Gospel of your salvation is in the genitive case, possessive, its the Gospel of a salvation they are in possession of, so they are saved when the Gospel comes to them, and they are not lost of which if they were lost, the gospel is hidden from them

The title of the thread is the problem. Think about it.

It's called reverse engineering. The system is assumed to be true and used to interpret Scripture. Scripture bends to the system.

Exceptions? I was replying to a post from Kroogz who had said "You are the special ones. We are scum.......Calvies in a nutshell." I was saying, that I have not seen anybody on Christian Chat who believes Calvinistic doctrines calling non-Calvinists "scum", or saying, "God chose me because I'm special." Are you saying that in your view, most Calvinists believe that non-Calvinists are scum, but there might bs some exceptions?
Since I joined this discussion I've not read where anyone refers to people in such a way.

I can't imagine a Born Again thinking of saying such things.

Who is the god of this world that blinds minds not wanting them to hear and believe the Gospel ?

2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Okay this is just ridicilous. You have to be SAVED in order to believe the Gospel????
But you are SAVED by believing the gospel

No sooner than I say it, you manifest it. You have no self awareness.
They're one of the most obstinate offensive posters,I can't call them a contributor due to the poor quality of their posts, here.

I will say, what we encounter in a few members here, thank God they are few,are those who demonstrate opposition to the Gospel itself.

Assaulting Calvinism is merely the vehicle they choose as a disguise for their contempt.

Because also, their manner of speaking to others is without grace. Which is another indicator we are not conversing with those in Christ.

Hatred is not a Christian principle.
