I like that attitude breno785au. It is a God-like attitude. He knows that our genetic makeup is flawed, that we are sinners without choice. That thru His Son we can be made whole again and on this side of being made perfect His Son covers all sin. He's not looking for our flaws but for any beneficial acts we do. I think about this question can we live a sinless life on this side of Armageddon. I think about the examples of Abraham, Moses, Peter just to mention a few. The reason we need Jesus is because, no we don't and cannot live up to Jesus example. We are not of our choice born sinners. We can have God's approval and attitude though. Yes preachers who have been more interested in their financial wellbeing than their spiritual have been giving the message you posted for many years. It is a message the people want to hear.
Such people believe Jesus came, and died the way he did, just so he could spend eternity with rebellious disobedient people, who spent their time on earth doing their own will and not God’s Will.
Jesus told us how to pray, and he said to pray for his Will to be done here on earth and it is in heaven. Satan did not do God’s Will and he is going to Hell.

I'm no preacher. I'm a teacher. More or less I don't try to tell people how to live their lives. I do love discussing the future of humanity. Money, lol, I'd love to show you my work. I'm a master builder. I've built houses, very nice houses, at practically no charge. For app. 7 years now this had been my way. I occasionally take jobs that are lucrative because we still live in a world that requires monetary exchange. For the most part my charge is room and board. Just because a person is a sinner doesn't mean they have to follow a destructive parth. I like our Father don't like to see tv's death of any, but they have a choice the same as any. I will not mourn the death of Satan our his followers. I actually will rejoice when he is sent to hell. Have a great day.
It is possible. The Word says it is possible. Is it likely? No. For one thing, the Word also tells us that all have sinned, and sin continues today. Keep in mind that sin is a violation of God's law, not man-made laws.

To make the discussion more clear - let's keep the "single act of sin" to mean a sin that you commit knowing that it was sin. So we are not talking about sins that you may commit that you are unaware of. Nor are we talking about mere attitudes such as pride or selfishness - these are wrong, yes, -- but for this discussion keep "a single act of sin" to mean an actual wrong act or deed that you do:
Examples: murder, swearing, gluttony, lying
Or, not witnessing to a person when the Holy Spirit prompts you to
Or, buying an extra fishing rod you don't need or won't use (and you clearly know the Spirit says - "don't buy it!)
Or, refusing to talk to Mr. "Snooty" at a party because you don't like his attitude

It is, only if you are born from above, which means to be born in spirit, which means to receive the holy spirit,
If you are still sinning, then you haven't truly been baptized in the holy spirit, as it sanctifies the body causing it to never sin again.
Maybe we should ask..... CAN GOD TRULY MAKE A PERSON SIN-FREE!

Scripture? One that clearly says "baptism of the Spirit" sanctifies the body so it never sins again?
I do not believe that God forces all Christians to live a life of not sinning - he leaves us with the free choice to choose . . .
And the point of this thread is to get us all to realize that God gives us all the resources we need to live above sin, but if we do fail and sin, it is our own choosing: it is not God's fault.

I know that this is a very "theoretical" question, because the Bible is very clear that "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God". So we know that no person besides Jesus ever has or ever will never sin in their lifetime. And most of us (maybe all of us - unless we pass on really soon!! ?) will commit sins the rest of our lives.
But, and here is the punch line! We do not have to commit sin! Why? because the Spirit of God living in us is able to help us live in victory! We don't have to plan to keep on sinning!
So when/if we do commit sin it is not God's fault nor is it God's plan for our lives.
We sin when we choose our own selfish way. Sin is our own fault. God has made every provision so that we can live in victory.
To answer the question - "Would it be possible for a Christian to live the rest of his life without commiting a (known) act of sin" - to answer this as - "No, it is not possible" is to say that God is not able or willing to give us what is needed for victory.

Me? I sinned today - and I knew I sinned when I did it! (Thank God for forgiveness) - but tomorrow - with God's help and His Spirit in me we shall walk in victory from now on! No more planning to sin!

Yes. But that is not the point. Sin is a symtom of a disease. The disease is not dwelling
in God, having love open and flowing from our hearts to those around.
You cannot manufacture this or pretend or through self effort create it. God needs to do
the work with your co-operation.
And when you arrive will you be proud or even aware? No. Because being proud would be
wrong, and being aware would be putting value in arriving when the whole point is serving
and not looking at yourself.
And for me the biggest mistake we make, is simply not taking the next step God puts infront
of us, but inventing 20,000 other more important ones.

issues? This is an important part of who you are today, but not who you are tomorrow.
You can choose to obey and sow good things, or continue being as you are, as if you have arrived
when actually you may not have even begun.
The truth is nothing in us is fixed, but we have become so used to it, we believe that is the way
it is for the rest of our lives. And we think in this state we can just walk into heaven.

Our job is to strive, not to arrive. Arriving is called 'glorification'. It hasn't happened yet, but I long for and await with great anticipation that great future day when all the dead in Christ shall rise and we shall meet them in the air. Hallelujah!
It makes for an interesting thought experiment. Imagine if one managed to live for three years without committing a single sinful act. Just think of how hard it would be to maintain a spirit of humility. If we ever see this, we will know that it is not by their spirit, but by the Spirit of the Lord that they walk thus. It would be interesting to meet a person who has never experienced spiritual failure and needed to repent during that time. That must be what it was like to walk with Jesus like the 12 disciples did. If there are any of you who think you are in this boat of absolute perfection (positional justification excluded), trust me, you are not.
It seems like some of us think that Jesus died for us so that we might be gleaming ten foot tall monoliths of perfection. I'm pretty sure that God is looking for people who are willing to confess that they need Him every day and who are willing to come to Him with a meek and contrite heart and ask for forgiveness on a daily basis. It looks like those kinds of people are getting to be few and far between these days.
We can choose to believe what God has said in His Son that we do in fact have forgiveness of sins. The whole gospel message is that "in His name, everyone who believes has the forgiveness of sins" We have word-for-word accounts of the real gospel being preached by Peter in Acts 10 and by Paul in Acts 13.
On the subject of forgiveness that we have in Christ now because of His precious Blood...here is what the scriptures say.....sometimes the truth in the gospel of the grace of Christ "conflicts" with what we have been religiously taught.
1 John 2:12 (NASB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake.
have been forgiven = perfect passive
perfect = The perfect tense expresses perfective action. Perfective action involves a present state which has resulted from a past action. The present state is a continuing state; the past action is a completed action. It is continuously happening in the present.
passive = voice = action is happening to you....you are not doing it
Without a doubt this verse says that the sins are forgiven from a past action that remains in a continuous completed state and that was put on them....not something they did.
Ephesians 1:7 (KJV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
We have redemption = present continuous action...so this means we have present continuous forgiveness of our sins...
and look...that grace stuff shows up again!...it's all according to the riches of our loving Father's grace that He has given to us in Christ our Lord.
Colossians 1:13-14 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
[SUP]14 [/SUP] in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Same thing here too...present continuous action = forgiveness of sins
Redemption!..we have been bought with the precious Blood of Jesus... Let's honor His work.
Brethren ...we have a great salvation in our Lord!
Walk in the knowledge of your forgiveness in Christ and in that security we will experience maturity.

Pride and selfishness are not mere attitudes: they are deadly sins.
Yes, it is possible for someone to abstain from sins of flesh. But that doesn't help you with absolutely nothing if your mind continues to sin.
