The bible says if a man lusts in his heart/mind he's already cheated. With all the beautiful women in the world... Can a man stay faithful for the long run???

The new 'law', being the heart, is a tricky one. ive often wondered these questions.
Am I guilty of murder because I think angry thoughts? (I sure hope not)
Am i a fornicator because I look at a woman a second too long and let my mind wander? (Cringe)
Do i commit sin against the spirit, if for an instant I think something isn't worth praying over? (Not as often as other things but still....)

Remember sister, everything through the lense of Christ's finished work on the cross. We may (and will) fail, but we have also had everything forgiven by he who was perfect, yet judged on our behalf.

Have faith sister, people can suck :P luckily for us, Jesus is grand :)

I know this didnt answer your question, but the lense of Christ's finished work is a good place to start any thoughts of this nature :)

A real man will think of and see his wife as being the one who is the most beautiful of them all.

Don't forget that that verse also speaks as much to women, just because everything in the bible is written more in the "man" form, still even women can read verses from the bible and feel God talking to them and their situation. Both the man and the woman can cheat with their hearts, and being lustful if giving in into sin.

A man can stay faithful, as much as a woman can stay faithful. I have sometimes read testimonies where the man stayed faithful all the time whilst the woman had an affair with another man, it is not always the man who feels tempted to giving in into action with lustful thoughts. It is the world which is telling and learning us that men are only born to being pigs, and to never being fully faithful to their woman. Doesn't means that we have to be taking this as being a true fact, just because the world is making this as a "true fact".

You are as much a beautiful woman the way you are. We need to learn seeing ourselves the way God does, and seeing as well as knowing that we are created to being beautiful. The right given husband we will get, for him we will be the one most beautiful lady of the universe. As long as he is the one God has brought to you, and he is a man loving God, and walking with God.

As a woman we need to be building up ourselves again, because so many women have been and are getting broken down by the facts told and given from the world about beauty. The enemy loves to break down, steal and making us think we have to prove ourselves to the world, whether we are beautiful enough or not. And if we don't reach nor are into those "beauty standards", we start thinking we are less beautiful and kinda give up the thought of being truly beautiful. When we start thinking we are second or less beautiful created, then this is a way the enemy is killing us from within. Because he knows that most women desires to being seen as beautiful, and especially by their men. So when we decide listening to those given lies about beauty, we make it only harder for ourselves. As a woman we were created being beautiful, when we were taken from the rib of Adam and formed, then God said it was "very good". As a woman we are the "Wow" part of the man, and this is our true given position as a woman. We are meant to making our man saying; "Wow" when he sees us, and most men that does loves their woman and loves God; They do think of and see their woman as a wonderful given "Wow" gift from God to them. ;) :)

Remember; You are Beautiful!

WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE ANSWER IS SIMPLY...YES. PERHAPS YOU POSE THIS QUESTION AS A RESULT OF YOUR OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. PERHAPS NOT. AT ANY RATE, THE SAME QUESTION COULD BE PROMPTED ON THE OTHER END OF THE SPECTRUM AS WELL....

My understanding of sin is this, there are two 'types'. For lack of better words i call them 'standard' and 'lifestyle'. Standard sins are just the normal day to day things we mess up. Things we do that we have no intent but that just come on us. Then there are the 'lifestyle' sins, these are the ones that plague as daily or that we even allow in our lives. So if a person doesn't struggle with lustful thoughts normally, but maybe see's something in a movie and has a lustful thought, that's not really 'in his heart', its just a slip up. But if that person struggles with lust daily, or allows it regularly, that's then 'in his heart' and to me that's the intent of that scripture. The person that stubs their toe and gets angry isn't angry in their heart, but the person who is always angry, it's in their heart and that is the real problem.

I honestly think men cannot stay faithful at least not for long. After a while they just get bored and want to try love or just sex with someone new! If a woman doesn't realize this she is fooling herself. Most times they do love you and want to stay with you as a safe haven, but their lustfull side wants to try out other persons. These other people don't really mean anything to them but they just want to feel what its like with another person other than you. So if a woman even thinks that she is the best lover for her man, in his mind, there is still someone out there whom he hasn't found yet that will be better than you. So its up to the woman to keep her self respect and either accept men for what they are and who they will become or just stay alone.

Yes he can, with love from his wife and forgiveness from the Lord.

It's sin but we all sin everyday, and women also lust after men not their husbands so they deal with this as well, although I think most men would concede it is a bigger problem for us.

Knowing we cannot not sin, it's about turning away from it time after time and staying rooted in marriage and faith, and men can do that, women can do that, and they can help each other to succeed.

and i can see how this isn't a 1 sided argument...

just think of having to change their bedpans, that takes the lust right out of your mind.

Can he stay faithful, yes.

Will he never lust in his heart...harder to say, but really...it's not just the sin, but the response.

Well, James has a bit to say about this I think

James 1:14-15
But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death

It seems to me that it is quite possible to look at a woman with general desire and not lust. Lust is often defined as a very strong desire. It is OFTEN referred to as a very strong sexual desire; as in James 1, though, it is referring to the more general term "lust." Man will always find beauty in that which God created for/from him.

It's when we dwell on that desire, let it grow and truly become sin that the issue occurs. So, I think absolutely men and women can stay faithful.

Any men here who can honestly say that you will NEVER lust, not even one blink of eye of ANY possible woman you may see no matter what kind of woman that is?

I think it's hard (maby... impossible but not sure) to find man who cannot stay faithfull in long run. BUT majority of these men will never get caught by other than God by their sin. Why else it's said if a man lusts in his hear he's already cheated?
and for men who find themselves lusting, they need to realise what they did ask and get forgiveness.

For all this talk about men cheating, there is a big rise of women cheating. Women are quickly catching up to men in the cheating department, so looks like your argument against men is falling by the wayside by your own hands, ladies.

It's almost funny that people adopt this attitude that men are just horny dogs looking to get their hands on anything they can, married or not, and that women are these pure spiritual souls that barely even consider the possibility or face the temptation. Fact of the matter is there are a lot of men that never cheat, and a lot of women that also cheat. Cheating is not a gender issue, its a heart issue.

Women lust too. Women cheat too.
Most of those men who are out there cheating are usually cheating with other WOMEN, not other men.

Give you spouse, male or female, all of the love, attention and affection he/she needs. Don't stop doing things you did for them before you married them just because you have a ring on your finger and think it's all a done deal.

BUT...keep in mind that even if you do ^this^, some spouses will STILL cheat. They would cheat no matter what you did/didn't do. People give a ton of excuses as to why they do, but the bottom line is that they cheat because they WANT to. You don't accidentally have sex with someone.

Pray for a faithful, godly spouse and don't marry anyone who doesn't meet that description. It will lower your cheater spouse risk factor.

I've always taken the lust in the heart as adultery to mean that if a man lusts in his heart after a woman then he is capable of committing adultery and might as well just have done so. I don't think the Bible says that if a man lusts for a woman in his heart he commits adultery. I think it says he commits adultery with her in his heart. And it's from the heart our actions come. So I think it just shows that he's capable of committing adultery which is a humbling realization for any man out there that's done this.

Here is the passage: Matthew 5:28 NIV - But I tell you that anyone who looks at - Bible Gateway

And to answer your question, I believe a man can stay faithful. I know a couple of men who have. One is my dad and the other is my grandfather. As to the rest of the world I don't know what goes on in their personal lives. But if a man wants to stay faithful it starts with the heart. Same goes for women. No flirting with men other than your husbands or letting your heart accept flirtations from these men. It's always a heart issue.
