Its not a exact thousand years.
I am sure all numbers are important to God. The number word, "thousand" and the plural form "thousands" are used as metaphors throughout the bible , if you would search is used to represent an unknown as to whatever in in view to include time period .It does not mean that a literal thousand can be used .Context usually helps us to understand when it is used in a parable as a metaphor to give us the unseen spiritual understanding called hidden manna in Revelation
God does not give literal numbers to count to those who walk by faith. Satan incited David to number the people. Satan was a murder from the beginning, many fell because David did number and the same with giving dates .Christ will come as a thief in the night . those who walk by faith can watch but like with Noah he will still come on a day when no one expects as a thief in the night.
An example using the word thousand to represent a unknown or non numerable . Using the dust as a metaphor if a person could number it then they could number the number of the bride of Christ the church .There Rebekah stands to represent the bride of Christ as the mother of us all the new Jerusalem as what we will be when receive the promise of our new incorruptible bodies
Genesis 24:60And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.
The Holy Spirit declares let the seed ,Christ the husband posses the gates . The gospel the key that binds and loosens .
