Can Salvation be lost?

That minister is right, here is the test. If you hear that you can not lose your salvation and the first thought you have is I can sin all I want and still be saved then you go out and sin all you want, you just proved that you are not saved.

But if you hear the same thing and it causes you to love God more and worship Him for securing your salvation, you are one of His elect.

When a person is Saved, their name is written in the Book of Life the moment they confess, repent, and ask Jesus into their hearts and life. Scriptures are also clear that a name can be blotted out of the Book of Life. There you have it.
No person can cause you to lose your salvation, but you can most certainly choose to do something that will cause your name to be blotted out of the Book of Life. Namely Hating, or not forgiving another, or living in sin.

All manner of sin shall be forgiven to man but rejecting the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven to man"
It's the Holy Spirit that enables us to Love as God does, to forgive our enemies and overcome the world carried by His Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit it's not possible to enter the resurrection He is the wedding garment given to us for ever. "The Spirit and the bride say come and drink of the water of life freely." Without the Holy Spirit we remain unchanged: in our sin.

What few Christians seem to understand is the penalty for sin is still the same even though you are now a Christian. But being a believer, you now have Christ's forgiveness to absorb the penalty for your sins from this point forward, but only if you keep believing. If you stop believing after being saved from the penalty of your sin you will have no sacrifice remaining to forgive the sins you commit from that point forward (Hebrews 10:26).

The bottom line being, you can indeed lose your salvation if you stop trusting in Christ's one time for all time sacrifice to forgive your sin. His sacrifice does not need to be made over and over and over again. It remains on the altar before the Father for all time, ministering on behalf of all those who continue to trust and believe in it (Hebrews 7:25). What we need to do is keep trusting in it:


"21 ...since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful" (Hebrews 10:21-23 NASB)

You must continue to hold fast the confession of your hope in Christ without wavering to obtain the surety and faithfulness of the promise. Do that and your struggle with sin as you grow up into right living will be covered by the blood of Christ and you will not come into condemnation.
