Yes, because HE said so. It is His promise through the power of the SPirit of Christ. The Spirit that was given to man as a gift when we come to repentance.
This is Not as the opinion of man as perfect, surely not. How can flesh be made perfect when it is born separated and in enmity against God?
Here is the difference: We do not hold the opinion of man as our truth, nor only part of scripture to excuse sins, but the bible as a whole, to put to death flesh and sin and encourage the Spirit of Christ within us.
Our flesh is not the perfection God seeks. In the flesh dwells nothing good. The flesh cannot be a Holy Master, but an evil selfish master. It cannot please God, EVER.
As a matter of fact In John, we see the need for a soul to be born again in Christ to keep us from sinning. If we who are born in and of the flesh come to Christ saying we have no sin *especially following a law*, we do not have truth in us but a lie. God says we are all born sinners. Our breaking of even the smallest of laws proves this. We cannot be saved by the law, but condemned.
We have always followed flesh in our lives until we are truly born again in Christ. God says the flesh cannot please Him. So, If we follow flesh we are under the law and are found in sin. However, After Christ, we should follow His perfection; what He is doing through His Spirit in us. As believers, we are now born of love, power, His Spirit. The flesh and Spirit battle over the soul of man. And praise to God if we allow the emptying of ourselves with the flesh dethroned, we can now through His Spirit walk in the perfection of love and power. We have the power to choose to follow His Spirit. So with that let us look at this perfection through the truth with the confirmation of His Words (emphasis mine):
1 John 4:
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17Herein is our love made PERFECT, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as HE IS, so are WE in THIS WORLD. 18There is no fear in love; but PERFECT love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made PERFECT in love. 19We love him, because he first loved us. 20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 21And this COMMANDMENT have we from HIM, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
AMEN!
