Can we or can we not lose our salvation?

Just as Jesus said it is the Father that does His works in Me. So, we too live by Christ living and doing His works through us. These are the true works of the Spirit. We are one in the spirit with Him. Without Christ we can do nothing.

There is a massive difference between doing things by our own self-effort or doing good works by the Spirit of God within us. We participate in them as being sons that are one with Christ. All good works that originate from the Spirit of God in us is really a manifestation of the life of Christ in us.

To people doing their own works of righteousness, this reality of Christ living through us is a stumbling block and their natural minds come up with all kinds of terms to label people who trust in the living Christ within them.

Paul explains this pretty simply.

Galatians 3:2-3
[SUP]2 [/SUP]This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?


You are foolish to think that it is by your will, your strength or your work that you are being perfected and performing righteousness.

The only way we are being perfected and performing righteousness is by faith in Christ through the Holy Spirit. A Gift.
 
We must understand HeRoseFromTheDead is coming from a Catholic point of view. Which we all know is a man made point of view.

After all no Catholic will ever enter into Heaven as long as they keep Worshiping Mary as their god.

Therefore we can reject what he says and listen instead to what the Holy Spirit says in the Scriptures.

May God have mercy on his Soul.

That's the imaginary obedience of Luther, who thought man's will was so impaired that he could only do good works passively (whatever that means). The man was very disturbed.

GOD has restored us in Christ to be able to actively do good things. Rely on his strength, and you will do. Believe in your own inability, you will never do.

Spoken in ignorance. The catholic view is very different from my own.
 
Actually it is not HeRoseFromTheDead especially when you have taught its by Baptism we have received Salvation. And yes i do remember you teaching this Doctrine last year.

But that's just it you aren't relying on Him and His strength. You're relying on yourself and some inherent ability you think you have now been given. When God is saying to stop that nonsense, and just let Him be who He is, God, in you and through you.

Rely on His Strength and He will do.

Then you can teach others, (maybe), that they can rely on His Strength as well.

Hebrews 4:10-11

Here Chester is totally CLEAR Proof that Salvation is by Grace from God. What more proof do you need? Or could it be you really do not believe what God says in the Scriptures? Who are you to call God a liar? Why do you teach maintaining one's Salvation by anything we do?

Repeat this over and over again, "For by grace I have been saved". AGAIN!

Maybe if you repeat this enough times it just might sink in we are Saved by the Grace of God and not by anything else.

Now, does this mean we can sin all we want? No. It does not. We are judge by our deeds, not by our sins.

You either did not read my last post, skimmed it quickly, or just do not take what I say I believe at face value.

Who is teaching that we have to "continually work to keep our salvation"? I am not. Here is what I wrote:
"For myself, I believe a person is saved by grace through faith, and a person is kept saved by grace through faith, and that "grace through faith" will then allow God to become the author of works in a person's life (we are His workmanship"

Yes, there are some who do not believe in OSAS that teach that it is works that keep a person saved. But is it fair to just put that label on all of us?

There are some that believe in OSAS who teach and believe that it really doesn't matter how you live as long as you are "born again". In other words, they teach that you should get a person saved and then don't worry or bother with discipleship at all.
Growing up that was what I was taught that all OSAS people believe. I have since found out on this forum and otherwise in my talking with OSAS people that many (like you) who believe in OSAS also teach and believe in discipleship.

I think that though we may disagree, we can still be brothers. I am not going to put labels on you - "All OSAS people think you can live however you want and it doesn't matter" and I would prefer if you don't put labels on me - "All non-OSAS people believe that it is works that keep you saved".


Amen, brother, we are saved by grace through faith - and by nothing else - and we stay saved by grace through faith and by nothing else! I affirm that belief 100%. Is there anything Biblically wrong with that statement?

Yep. It's that "through Christ" part you just don't get. Which is why for you it is all about the "self".
