So a lot of people in the last part thought that a lot of people confess (maybe I should have used the word profess) to be Christians and are not...while denying that anyone who thought themselves mormon could be Christian and just not realize what it means to be a mormon.

So, the NEW question is...

Can you confess to be saved and not be saved?

Or even more poignantly can you TRULY believe yourself Christian/saved and be deceived or be wrong? (I think I'll make this a survey.)

Lastly, what is the proof to you, you are not one of these deceived people? If you believe in it...

Just wondering I thought it would provide good bridging between opposing views on here...

Can I believe I won't die if I get launched into the sun? Yes I can believe that.
Will I die if I am launched into the sun? Yes, I will (assuming I make it alive through the vacuum of space on my way to the sun, I guess haha).

We can believe one thing and reality can be another thing.
I can believe I am a Christian and not live as a Christian ought to. Having free will, I can believe as I like and still be wrong. May I call myself a Christian and not act as a Christian should? No, I may not. But I can. Should I? No.

Can you beleive yourself SAVED and be deceived?

New Agers, Buddists, Islamists, etc all believe they are going to heaven because their religion says so. Most today believe there are many paths to heaven, but there is ONLY ONE.

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:" Matthew 7:13

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John14:6

John 14:6 does not say "by partly of yourselves" but through Jesus. Not by anything else, but Jesus alone by faith will man be saved. Anyone can claim to be a Christian but they are deceived if they trust even partly in themselves for salvation. I could claim to be a nuclear physicist, but that doesn't necessarily mean I am one(btw I am not one, if I claimed to be one I would be clearly deceived).......I am justified in the eyes of men for my works(James 2:18). But works do not save. Flee the church that preaches that you maintain salvation by good works. Flee any church that perverts the simplicity of Christ(2 Corinthians 11:3-4). Dont just believe someone is a Christian because they claim to be one. They can pray and act spiritual, but if they have never trusted in Christ ALONE for salvation, they are deceived. In fact, those who think they are Christians and worship God like a Christian, when in fact they trusted partly in themselves, not Christ alone, have worshipped in vain(John 4:23-24).

Please make sure you are in the narrow path unto life, because this is a scary realization:

"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Matthew 7:14

So, everyone is believing that you can truly believe yourself saved and be deceived?

This is kind of strange, so I would include ANY PERSON WHO CONSIDERS THEMSELVES SAVED CAN BE DECEIVED...NOTE THIS INCLUDES YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So why do so many people insist they are right on every subject when in the poll so far everyone believes that they, themselves, could just be deceived in thinking themselves saved...Unless, everyone in the poll is prideful enought to think,"There are other people who believe themselves Christian and are deceived, but certainly not I."

It goes for the same on every Christian subject, if you want to insist that the other side is just deceived into thinking themselves Christian and are not, WHY CAN'T THAT DECEIVED PERSON BE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I think everyone should investigate their beliefs and why they belief what they do, and hear the witness of others beliefs, while investigating why they believe what they believe...and then as scripture says, "Hold to the truth that is in your heart." If what is heard calls you to repent or convicts you then change, if not then don't.
