Here's an eighth grade final exam from 1895. The language could cause some barriers. Some things that were common knowledge back then are outdated, or unused terminology today. Still, when your grandparents told you that they only have an eighth grade edumakation, I'll bet you thought them to be a lot less smarter than you. Try it, and see how you do. I only have a GED, but I can tell by looking at it that my GED test was way easier.

On the other side of that, I've run into two completely separate people in my life that told me that the smartest person that they ever knew didn't know how to read or write. To quote an old rock song, that 'really makes me wonder'.

I'm going to go on record and saying now that I'm not taking the test. I seen a guy on youtube who had two bachelors degrees and he scored a 61%. At least he passed.

The reason people were smarter long ago was because of ancient aliens, not because we're being dumbed down. After all, Al Gore did invent the internet, right? :)

Mmm,is that strawberry glycerin?

The thing for me about that test is, it reflects that time back in the day when America's public school system was ranked as either number one or the top 3 in the world.

Now,last I heard years ago, were near the bottom.

Imagine giving that test to PS High School Seniors today.
