I do not understand why some folks make unusual statements and offer no Bible passage or text to back them up. For instance, one person posted that God created a body for Christ. Another person posted that history and tradition support the doctrines and practices of the Catholic church. So I present valid questions and challenges to such statements. I ask for specifics. Details. Facts. I ask "Where's that in the Bible?" I've noticed that when people have to face the knitty gritty of actually defending their statements, they abandon ship, leave their statements hanging. Hit and run.

What am I missing or not doing or not understanding about discussions here at CC?

I want to attach a few of the names of such individuals in my signature and note they are unresponsive to post #.

Hit and run posting is not singular to CC. It occurs on all Public Sites. Wouldn't bother with the signature thingy, just clog up your signature block.........they wouldn't respond to it either, and most folks here know who most of such as them are anyway.

I make hit and run posts all the time..though not of the nature that Galahad is speaking of..

They probably got that from Hebrews 10:5, and didn't know what to do with it.

So is my thread question stupid?

Is that all it is? They just don't know? I would hope they would acknowledge or address their ignorance in some tactful form or manner.

Just seems as if addressing posts is not constructive. No real serious discussion.

Thanks for your reply.

I think, for a great portion of people, they are either "told" something to believe... or they read a few words, and imagine all sorts of things in their mind. Then they blindly run with those things, never once really trying to "think."

my Galahad,

you sure did go for the negative -

many times people post and must be about their business -
so to me, any response is appreciated even if not accompanied
by an opinion.

we just never know what goes on behind the scenes, whether
illness, job, travel, etc.......
please don't take the lack of response personal, as you are blessed
that many here are reading what you have to say and do have an
opinion, but just not expressing it.
we must take our comfort where it abides, and be thankful for it,
without unmerited ill feeling for others.

Because you do not listen to the answers you are given, restating your a priori assertions, and even then you reply too late to be part of the conversation.

The case for tradition is simple, simple logic of history and the New Testament records that that is how the faith was passed on in the early church which is why Paul says " hold fast to tradition taught by word of mouth and letter" . Tradition - paradosis - means handing down, not just of the word but the meaning of it. Notice he does not say " gospels" because they and ,the New Testament were much later in general circulation. Jesus did not give us the New Testament, he gave us apostles to hand on the faith.

Sola scriptura is easily shown as biblically , logically and historically false - whilst true it is not the whole truth, nor does it claim to be. Indeed that is why the bible says the " pillar and foundation of truth is the church" it does not say the pillar of truth is scripture, which would pose historic problems because early Christians did not have the New Testament. You have councils to thank for that. You do not like councils, I get it, but you would not HAVE a New Testament or creed but for them.

I gave a specific example of " bishops" to show they are everywhere in the church fathers from first succession on, showing that tradition as apostolic.

But of course - people like you would rather say " question not answered" when you really mean " don't like the answer" which is why people like me no longer waste time giving you answers.

I am now away for a few days, so not responding.

Just go reply to the thread. This isn't the place. You are all about promoting Catholicism. When you face specifics and sound challenges, you post misleading information and then run.

"Hi, my name is Richard and I accidentally ran into your post and someone saw me so I'm pretending to write something pertinent so they won't report me. Sorry"

very correct: those who trust in the heresy are not supposed to promote the heresy according to site rules. they still do, but we can't do much about it.
since it is heresy they trust in, nothing they say can be taken as truth. (not even when 'tested' because their words do not mean what other people mean - they always are trying to defend their errors, no matter what they say)

because this forum is open to a lot of posters who are not even close to being believers in christ jesus and who are not even close to seeking truth.
when "SCRIPTURE REFERENCE" or quote is posted, there's a lot of trampling done instead of better things, and of course those in the very darkness of dark hate the truth being published and trample it when they feel like it, being led as we ALL ONCE WERE by the prince of the power of the air(the devil) as it is written in EPHESIANS.

it is absolutely BEST not to ask a catholic any question, especially about their 'support' for their heresy --- no truth comes from it, and it goes and goes and goes without end with much repetition of the same things and they so far don't trust SCRIPTURE enough to let go of the other dogmas and doctrines and practices of the heresy. there might be a few exceptions, at least there have been historically roman catholics have been saved once in a while, but not many; and here on the site they don't look like they want to be in most of their posts.

Your reply shows you understand my question, concern, and frustration. Your reply clarifies and presents a clearer way to look at some of the vague, ambiguous replies that I and I know others have dealt with. Thank you!!!
