I was recently reading an article about a man that, when his financial services business was failing, he kidnapped an old couple and tried to get the wife to withdraw $350k to give to him and if she did not cooperate he would kill the husband.

The kidnapper met his own wife at a church bible study years before and they had 6 kids together and were a Christian family until he backslid and decided to serve the devil. After reading this article, I read some of the comments down below and one person who claimied to be Christian said this:

For some reason people seem to hate Christians because they have standards. Christianity teaches that we can never live up to those standards, but it is important to try. So yes Christians are hypocritical, but that is because we have high standards. I would rather that, then have no standards and be authentic.

This is a great example of a Christian who has been taught error who obviously does not know what the Lord teaches in His Word making themselves Christian in name only (CINO).

So let's focus on the error this CINO is speaking of which is what many preachers and churches teach these days which is - we just aren't able to stop sinning falsely claiming Christians just cannot live up to Christian standards – THEY ACCEPT LIVING IN SIN AS BEING A NORMAL PART OF CHRISTIAN LIFE AND CHRISTIAN LIVING

People believing this error do not know that only the overcomers will be allowed in to God’s Kingdom, as in those that overcome sin by submitting themselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit based on what the Lord teaches in His Word. That would be ALL His Word, the whole counsel of God, not just bites and pieces.

Revelation 3:5
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 21:7
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Revelation 3:4
Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

We see in God’s Word that sin is not acceptable but most Christians ignore these instructions and warnings or they are otherwise ignorant of these passages even being in God’s Word (ignorant does mean a person is stupid, it just means they don’t know when they should know!):

1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil

John 8:34
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 3:7
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that DOES righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

1 John 5:18
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

1 John 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.

1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Galatians 5:16
Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Peter 2:14,15
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

Romans 6:1,2
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 11:22
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:6
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Romans 8:13,14
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

2 Timothy 2:21
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

So what are real Christians doing to not be like the fake CINO “christians”??? The walk (life) in Newness of Life putting off the old man as they put on The New Man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24)

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

It's not a matter of trying to earn salvation thru good works... It's a matter of being obedient verses being disobedient!

Those that accept the calling of the Lord and become new creatures in Christ Jesus abiding in Him doing good works by the power of the Holy Spirit within as the Lord leads... these are true children of God.

Those claiming to be saved not walking in obedience have rejected the ordination and calling of the Lord and are the children of disobedience who refuse to put on the new man and walk in newness of life to stop being servants of sin...

Colossians 3:5-9
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Ephesians 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Romans 13:14
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Hebrews 9:14
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Romans 6:4-6
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

As these scripture references indicate, those not accepting the calling of the Lord to be led by the Holy Ghost into walking after the new man are in disobedience... which will NOT end well for them unless they repent of their sin and get with the Lord's game plan!

Hello everyone thank you for the reponses I do apologize if I came off a bit harsh but someone had to say it and perhaps if God was in fact the one that lead me to say it then hopefully it stirred a few hearts. However I do admit I was feeling very frustrated and could have spoken it better but my deepest desire is that people grow closer to God not as a distant being who resides in heaven not just as their savior and Lord but to intimately bond wiith him to understand that there is a whole other level with him that few know of but that everyone has access to

You know just a couple nights ago I began to cry, these were not tears of sadness but of love. My heart ached for him I longed for him my heart melted for him and I just couldn't stop crying, moments like that are beautiful and they only come from that same intimacy I was speaking of.

Have you ever cried like that? to love someone so much that just thinking of them brings you to tears? Have you felt your heart go soft inside you like that? that tenderness that ache that feeling of your soul groaning out for them in words with no voice?

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Jas 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

If a person hates sin, and does not want sin, and allows the Spirit to lead them they have the power to be able to abstain from sin.

If we sin being led away by the flesh we should repent not wanting the sin and allow the Spirit to lead us.

Every time we sin we forfeit repentance until we correct it.

A Spirit led life is not under the law because they are not fulfilling the lust of the flesh therefore the law cannot touch them for prosecution.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Not everybody comes to this truth because they will not let go of the flesh.

They love sin more than God and believe they cannot abstain from sin.

They hold on to sin which the blood of Christ cannot wash away their sin.

They did not get saved in the first place for they did not have a proper understanding of repentance usually from a denominational teaching.

1Ti 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

For people who believe once saved always saved God wants all people to be saved and Jesus takes away the sin of the world.

Predestination means God already had the plan to give mankind salvation before He laid down the foundation of the world.

But this salvation is to whoever wants it for God wants all people to be saved and Jesus takes away the sin of the world.

Any person who believes they cannot abstain from sin is not in the truth.

Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2Pe 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

This applies to people who were saved understanding repentance if they go back to sin and do not correct it they will be cut off like the disobedience Hebrews.

The basic problem is that we have often learned in our lives that it is far easier to tear someone else down than to actively make the effort necessary to build ourselves up. Even a friend who correctly pointed out that the task for the Christian is not to point out where another person is sinning but rather to recognize where they are sinning themselves, and then actively work to reduce their own sin. Our remaining sin nature tells us that it is not the problem as Christ has forgiven us, but those other people keep on sinning, and that sounds a lot better than hearing that we keep on sinning and need to be so busy trying to keep ourselves on the straight and narrow that we do not have time to see what sins others commit.

So we should not get rid of the mote in our own eye so we can help not only ourselves and others too?

Our remaining sin nature tells us that it is not the problem as Christ has forgiven us

Well, I got born again and became a New Creature in Christ Jesus and now have the nature of the Lord in me.

You were left still having the old sin nature in you? Weird. I got the Holy Ghost instead of sin nature.

we keep on sinning

Man, I got the fruit of the Holy Spirit including self control so I wouldn't be a slave to sin anymore.

You keep on sinning? What kind of sin are you into? Like drugs and alcohol? Sexual perversion? Spittin on the side walk and kickin cats?

Whatever it is, you don't believe getting filled with the Holy Spirit would free you from being a slave to sin?

On the other hand, how bad of a sinner would we be if the Holy Spirit’s love were not in our hearts?

So we should not get rid of the mote in our own eye so we can help not only ourselves and others too?

As the Apostle John tells us IN SCRIPTURE. "if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us". So, you contradict scripture with your claim. Contradicting scripture might make you feel good, but it makes you a terrible teacher of Christian truth.

1 John 1:8 is obviously speaking of if we claim we have never sinned... 1 John 1:10 says "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us"

The very next verse tells us if we confess our sins the Lord cleanses us of ALL unrighteousness... so is 1 John 1:8 claiming 1 John1:9 is un-true??? You aren't claiming the Blood of Jesus is unable to cleanse one of their sin under 1 John 1:9 are ya?

You teaching Christians that we are all sinners is speaking in behalf of the devil. You should cease from such and start believing the whole counsel of God and stop being a cherry picker. Learn to walk after the Spirit rather than the flesh

But I get it, you are apparently a proud sinner and so you choose to live in sin. It's sad but I see people saying this all the time.

All things are possible thru Christ (Philippians 4:13), so THRU JESUS we actually DO have the ability to stop sinning IF, IF we humble ourselves under His Mighty Hand (that's God's Word at God's Right Hand - Jesus Who is THE Christ)

1 Peter 5:6
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not

1 John 2:4
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 1:6
if we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

1 John 2:1
I write these things unto you, that ye sin not

Galatians 5:16
Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh

James 4:17
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil

John 8:34
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

1 Corinthians 15:34

you contradict scripture with your claim

FYI

1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil

WHY would anyone want to be of the devil and live in sin???

That is the question you need to ask yourself as you re-examine your life in light of the whole counsel of God

Only believing bits and pieces of what God says in His Word is how false doctrine gets started such as believing Christians are all sinners and can never stop sinning, and the claim God put sin in every baby being formed in the womb so they would be born sinners.

I agree, the Apostle Paul tells us that we WILL be perfected and that we are being perfected while still acknowledging the multitude of sins still within the church, and even in himself. Being forgiven is different than being perfected.

Ahh the revolting sinless perfectionist!

Ahh the revolting "I'm a proud sinner, so I choose to live in sin" adherent!

I agree, the Apostle Paul tells us that we WILL be perfected and that we are being perfected while still acknowledging the multitude of sins still within the church, and even in himself. Being forgiven is different than being perfected.

Then you must be continually befuddled by these passages:

Those who cannot cease from living in sin are "cursed children" (2 Peter 2:14)

Hebrews 6:1
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying
again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God

*We should grow beyond the foundational teachings of the Gospel and grow in to a mature
Christian who does not walk after dead works and instead walks after the New Man which is
created in righteousness and true holiness (see Ephesians 4:22-24, Romans 13:14, Colossians 3:10)

Matthew 5:48
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

2 Corinthians 11:2
For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Hebrews 12:23
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect

2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Ephesians 4:13
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Philippians 3:15
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

Colossians 1:28
Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man
perfect in Christ Jesus:

1 Thessalonians 3:10
Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

2 Timothy 3:17
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Hebrews 6:1
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of
repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God

Hebrews 7:19
For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

Hebrews 9:9
Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

Hebrews 10:1
For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Hebrews 11:40
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Hebrews 13:21
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Actually, you are not making your case, you are making mine. You pull verses out on context, making certain that you only use the portion that sounds like it makes your case and ignoring the portions that do not. Such itself is an act of sin as you distort the word of God.

For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

So many verses.. many no offense out of context. Take "He that committeth sin is of the devil" Well that's all of us huh. No you left out habitual, willful, and persistent lifestyle of sin. Anyway.. praise GOD for His word but.. your just putting a bunch of verses together to say something else.

Take "Those who cannot cease from living in sin are "cursed children" (2 Peter 2:14)" Who was he talking about? Just Christians that sin? No false teachers operating within the early church. False teaches had trained their heart in the practice of covetousness and had become children of cursing. They were under a curse and headed for divine judgement. They not believers, these false teachers have eyes full of adultery. and they cannot cease from it.

Many today focus on what Christ did .. we don't focus on sin. I can not speak for any Church or any believer I personal do not know nor will I. At what 19 (65) now.. This preacher oh many go on and on about yet said on the radio .."I don't think anyone has fallen missed it as much as me. Just get up dust off keep going. Repent...." turn over a new leaf.. change of mind. I am not righteous because I do good works nor I am lost because I sin. One day all I saw was my sin.. that I did and read in the margin of this bible.. if your sin convicts you you won't get anything from God.

I got up said "I quit.. .My heart convicts me 24/7 of sin" I got up reached for the door He said "what is righteousness?" I turned said "ok ok righteousness is right standing with God" He asked "how do you get righteousness?" I said "by believing in Jesus" It was like being blind and then I could see.. I kept crying. At that time its just what I heard.. so right then I went to the word to make sure this was written. Eph 4 we put on the new man.. that is not just a thought a nice saying. What was made new in us? That is who we are.. that never sins. Its no longer I that sin by sin that is in me. As He said through Paul.. NO that does not mean we have a free right to sin God forbid. Anyway.

To many verses out of context.. as I read them no offense. But thank you for this.. this is just me talking.

Gaslighting doesn't work on me bud, but there's plenty gullible souls for you to scam with your fake "gospel".

I sure hope you grow up and get off the milk someday

Ahh the revolting sinless perfectionist!

Have you made your son or his daughter to pass through the fire of Molech?
do you use divination?
do you observer of times?
are you an enchanter?
are you a witch?
are you a charmer?
are you consulter with familiar spirits?
are you wizard?
are you a necromancer?

If you answer no to all of the above, then guess what, you are perfect before the LORD. (See Duet. 18:10-13)
