I am a caregiver to my husband. With little exposure to others, unless it is doctors. There is always a need to chat with others. To give suggestions, prayer request, and to lend an listening ear to the needs of others. I may be stuck at home but God can still use me to help others. I need to communicate and be inspired. I would love to hear from any one who feels the same way. God bless you all.

I am not a caregiver any more, but I am almost completely isolated because of my age making walking very difficult, a family who does not include me except once or twice a year saying they love me, a girl in need of a home now and then, and one neighbor who leaves next month. My eyes will not let me drive. Getting groceries is a major problem.

In certain ways it is sort of nice. My time is spent exploring God as He is, and as He is working in the world. No person asks for my time. When I get to hear someone real speak, it is a real blessings to hear how someone else is thinking and living. I found people, some in other countries, who I can encourage. One is a man who has become homeless and has no one. It is even difficult for him to recharge his laptop so he can have that much communication. I think God can use us in any circumstance.

I should think being a caregiver both gives a way to give, and makes it harder to open yourself up to growth in the Lord in other ways, also. Do you have time left over from caregiving?

I am sorry your family does not involve themselves in your life more than what they do. I truly wish I was in a position to help you in your daily needs. You might want to check with churches in your community. They may have elder care groups that would run errands for you or take you to the doctor.

I work during the day and pay for a caregiver to sit with my husband. We would not have health insurance otherwise. All of my pay goes to the caregiver during the day. My shift starts in the evening when I get off work and goes through the night until morning. Same thing goes for all weekends. There is no one who cares enough to give me a break. So, I try to find things at home to do such as reading, baking, gardening. I too long to hear the voices of others. I miss going to church and being with God's people.

I am sure you have a wealth of knowledge to share with others. The Lord tells us to share each others burdens. I would love to share my extra time hearing your voice.

May God continue to bless you.
