So what does the Bible mean by "carnal minds?" It is our fleshly thoughts that conflict with the Holy Spirit. Christians who are more spiritually mature than others are certainly not immune to the flesh, but are better able to control it. As Christians, we can struggle with these "fleshly thoughts", making it difficult to witness to unbelievers of the world. Those with "carnal minds" would rather listen to the world and their fleshly thoughts than that of the Word of God. The Bible tells us that we must treat these people as a baby receiving milk, gradually leading toward more solid foods or spiritual needs.
1 Corinthians 3:1-4 Paul illustrates this clearly in these passages. During this time the people of Corinth were not being obedient to the Holy Spirit, but rather listening to the teachings of the world. Their "carnal minds" had dominated their attitudes and behavior, making it very difficult to submit to the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:10-16 "the spirit searcheth all things yea, the deep things of God." Those with "carnal minds" and are not yet spiritually mature, will have no desire for such things, but those who are ready and have a deep spiritual desire for knowing our Lord, the Holy Spirit will reveal more knowledge to His word.
PRAISE JESUS!!!
