WOW. What fresh hell is this? I have never seen that before and it's seriously appalling. It's one thing for the baptized to freely donate if they feel called to do so, but for a church to charge like a restaurant???

I noticed the "Pay in advance" reminder. A baptism can be done during a normal service, which incurs no extra expense. They have zero excuse. They should be thrilled to perform this service and welcome new Christians into the fold freely without financial expectation or gain, just as Jesus Christ and the disciples did.

Counterpoint: Any Christian [disciple] can baptize, so a Christian friend, family member, etc. And they can use a river, pool, or your tub at home for free, as it should be.

Matt 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

How is this different than most pastors preaching that you must tithe; otherwise, you are stealing from God?

most churches push tithing. yes, we should give. but not with the " stealing from God" thing.

interesting how the push the O. T. tithing, but in most cases never mention the dietary laws..

It's those so-called "pastors" who are themselves false teachers and thieves by sheering their sheeple, but, then, those sheered sheeple who give in to the lies of the tithe taught by their false teaching pastors who remain ignorant and indifferent to the truth. They're getting exactly what they deserve for being so blind to the truth and remaining that way in spite of that Bible collecting dust on their shelves or tables or in storage boxes.

I sat, only out of curiosity for the content, a so-called "Bible study" in me workplace headed by a guy who machine gun shoots all kinds of trivia style lessons that go so fast that one hardly has time to even write down the references.

He hammered in the "principle" of tithing allegedly predating the Law, which almost always is an arrow pointing at Abraham...the very man who gave a tenth of other people's property stolen from them by marauding kings' property Abraham intentionally returned to the rightful owners while refusing the gist of all the spoils so that king couldn't brag that he had made Abraham even more wealthy than he already was.

Now, someone please show to us where Abraham ever went up in northern Canaan where his personal wealth was still sitting, collected a tenth of it and traveled back to meet Melchizedek. Anyone? No? I agree. It doesn't exist. People continue to try and argue to me that the spoils were always Abraham's property until he gave it back...as if Abraham were not a man who was a cut above the culture and traditions of that time and place, and therefore governed by the local culture. No. I reject that he was a product of society and culture once he became a man of faith.

Given that actions speak louder than words, the fact remains that Abraham's actions clearly show to us he didn't consider the spoils to be his property given that he intentionally returned them to their rightful owners apart from the tenth given to Melchizedek and the portion his men took for their part in the war. Other than that, Abrahams's wealth remained way up in northern Canaan.

The narrative of scripture defies so much of the false teachings of modern "pastor" hirelings.

Filthy lucre.

Yes. Consider the highly emotional statements so many make about "giving" to their "church," as if it were "giving to God."

When people give into something from which they reap direct benefit and call that giving to God...I have to wonder where they left their consciences!
