While we are all striving to be more like Jesus, with which Bible character do you most identify?

For me it would have to be David. He was a man of intense passion. He pushed life to the fullest. He was protective and a warrior, yet he was gentle enough to lead sheep and write the tenderest of lyrics to the One who owned his heart forever. And when he did mess up, he did it on a grand scale.. But through it all, God knew his heart.

Jacob because I'm always wrestling with what God tells me to do until He shows me its Him and not just a man blocking the path I want to walk, but I wonder what my new name will be.

Nympha, a Laodicea woman who at her home the church gathered and and was a leader and God servant!!

I have always admired Ruth, and although I am not sure I am worthy of being described as her, I most certainly strive for her character.
She was not known as a *pretty* woman. From a hard life, and hard work outdoors scripture descibes her as having leathery skin. (that tells me that maybe she has aged beyond her years.) BUT, it was not her beauty (or lack there-of) that Boaz took notice of...it was her character.

I am not a pretty woman, I feel aged beyond my years....but I sure would like to be known for having the same character of Ruth. Devoted, hard working, trustworthy and loyal.

Not that I'm making a point of it to be like Jacob. But yeah. Jacob. I'm kinda a quiet, not so macho, momma's boy type, with other not so good traits, who happens for some reason to have God working in his life.

Peter, because I know what a weak, wretched person I am and I don't feel worthy of God's love, but I have a great love for Jesus and try to do what is good in his eyes.

When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!"
Luke 5:8

"Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?"
Romans 7:24 NLT

Plus I often find myself with my foot in my mouth.

But Peter declared, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the other disciples said the same.
Matthew 26:35

We all know what happened next, right?

I'm kinda chokin' up as I read these. There is such beauty here. (I'm such a GIRL haha) Must be that passion thang...

I'd have to go with Stephen, cause I've spent a whole lotta time setting up chairs and tables..

Jonah, I know what the truth is and I know how to get there but, sometimes I find God placing me in strange circumstances that I would do anything to escape. It is only then that I realize that it was because I was running from Him that I got there. Then when I do what he asks me, I get the feeling that it was 100 times as trivial as the path I took to get there.

i would probably say david. what people see in me is not necessarily what God sees. i suppose i can be pretty tough in a pinch, but i value artistic expression.

I will say Abraham because if you listen to me you'll know one phrase I say is 'the Lord leads'. And the other part of the phrase I say is: we must follow. and Abraham of course followed God even to the point of being willing to sacrifice his own son, Isaac, and that is a character that I admire a lot for their great faith to follow God no matter what.

Honestly I think David, because David was humble, and had a big heart. He also loved to write and sing, to praise the Lord, and even when he was down an out, or he messed up he always turned to the Lord, because he knew his life was secure in God's hands. I love psalms, it's 1 of my favorite books in the bible to.

It's a toss between Jeremiah, who was called crazy by those who did not want to hear & believe what God had to say. He was confused, as John the Baptist & many others were, because of all he was suffering for preaching righteousness.
Second Joseph always touched my heart , his name means adding - he brought valuable to others, that was because 'God was with Joseph' & 'the favor of God was with him'

I would say Abraham. Called out of my unsaved family life for a purpose. I tend to fall into the same sin but I am trying to make a way for God to lead.
