Sometimes I wonder if dating/courting/whatever title you wanna apply to it, is like catch and release fishing for some people? You know, where you sit in the boat or on shore for a long time, trying to get the fish, only to release it back to the water once it has bitten the hook.

Are there some people who are in it only for the thrill of the hunt, only to get bored and release their 'prey' once it is on the hook?

Are you a catch and releaser? Have you ever been the prey of a catch and releaser?

I know some of them, but have never been a victim. I've even seen them have contests with one another to see who could catch a certain fish or who could catch more. It's empty and it's stupid.

I don't fish. I don't pursue.

Playing with peoples' hearts. Tsk tsk and stupid indeed.

What is even worse is when they fish for more than one at a time and then play one against the other. That's just mean.

Yes, have been a victim.. he managed to keep me on the hook for 7 years. I must have been one tough fish:P

They seem to spit out the hook or die before I can get them out of the water. Its like its all good until they get close enough to the surface and see my face. Then they are like "EW!!! That's NOT a beautiful flaw!" and run screaming, if fish could scream.

on a serious note...

Nothing to me is more frustrating or annoying than watching a guy pursue a woman and KNOWING that he has ZERO intention of being anything but schmarmy and nice for the sake of "getting to know her." Then after 3 weeks its like he's seen enough and its on to the next girl, rinse, repeat.

on a personal note...

My brother is a Womanizer, Philanderer, Dead Beat Dad, what ever you want to call him. He has had 12 kids from 4 women (that he knows of). I've learned in my life what not to do from his example.

In my experience women have commitment issues. When actually faced with the prospect of being committed engaged or just in a relationship, they flake out of it. I've been engaged and I've had the ring given back to me. I've been cheated on, because they thought they could since I was "out at sea"

AMEN!

Men too of course...

But still

AMEN!

I call someone like that a player. It seems like they are lacking something which causes them to be like this and they are trying to fill that void in all the wrong ways. Instead of facing whatever it is that they are running from they act out in ways such as the catch and release you stated. I RUN from guys like that because I who wouldn't? My thoughts on it anyways.

There are times when fish get tired of being baited by a fisherman who just wants to play with the fish.
There are times when a fish will take the bait and then be made to feel foolish and won't bite again for awhile, and probably never for that same fisherman.
There are times when fishermen pursue fish that are interested in another fisherman.
There are times when fish figure out that they probably aren't the best fish for that fisherman.
There are times when a fisherman is foolish enough to bait other fish in the face of the fish he really wants, and the fish he wants swims away as fast as her little fins will take her.
There are times when fish can be overwhelmed by too many fishermen and decide to ignore ALL bait.

hahaha that is good Jullianna!!! Of course now some girls are totally hating on you cause of the too many fisherman part hahaha ;) That was delightful to read and made my humor spark to life when I needed it to spark up to push away this gloomy feeling I was lost in. Do not you just love those moments where that ray of sunshine burst through the dark clouds hovering over your mind and fill you up with that feeling you get when you are basking in the sunlight after an extremely cold bitter winter? I do *grinz*
