Catholic church to break with the US gov't

The Roman Catholic church has decided that they will no longer work with the US government in providing aid, etc to "immigrants".

“The bishops’ decision came after the federal government suspended our cooperative agreements to resettle refugees. The drastic reduction of these programs forced us to reconsider the best way to serve the needs of our brothers and sisters seeking safe harbor from violence and persecution,”

"His comment that government money never fully covered the cost of what the church was doing for refugees almost certainly came in response to Vice President JD Vance’s claim that the church has become too reliant on federal funding."

Apparently the RCC is very willing to spend other people's money to "help", and to take the credit.... but then complain that it doesn't "fully cover" their costs. The RCC is a hugely wealthy religious group, but they cannot find the funds to do God's work in feeding/clothing the needy?

Is this truly only about political and religious refugees, as the bishop stated?

Army? Can that compare to the vaticans vast non christians art collection? If they just sold a few pieces a year they could fund many of mercies of the church.

I did a quick goober search to see what religious group was the most wealthy.... and it came up with numbers showing how much a group was worth, but for the RCC it said

"Estimating the Catholic Church's worldwide wealth is challenging due to the decentralized nature of its assets and limited public financial information, but estimates range from $10 to $265 billion. "

Surprisingly, to me at least, the one listed most frequently as the wealthiest is the Mormon church. They own more property, businesses, etc... If one only counts the Vatican for RCC wealth, the LDS group is almost 10 times as wealthy.

The reason for the "estimates" in the RCC accounting is that there are so many different groups of RCC's in the world. One of the wealthiest of them is the RCC of Germany. There are others, as well.

To be fair, the RCC is one of the largest charitable organizations in the world.... so one would think that if helping the "refugees" (mostly illegals) was that important, they should be able to fund it wholly on their own, if necessary. Instead, they seem to be insisting that the U.S. should fund the invasion ourselves, under the auspices of the RCC.
