Bookreader, the 'Holy Land' may have symbolic relevance, but it's just a bunch of dirt. It no longer has any special religious status.
NO Catholics are lost
As far as all Anglicans..id say this is a strong statement to make..Do they believe in all the basics? Last time i checked they did, Btw..John Wesley, a hero of the faith..was an anglican..so i do believe some are saved..
Now if we were talking about Jehovah's witnesses,or Mormons..i would agree..
Seventh Day Adventists, i am undecided if they can be saved, they keep much of Jewish law and are almost Jewish in their practices, but it may be possible some might be saved in that sect..Jehovahs witnesses and Mormons most likely are not because they have another Bible, another Gospel, and a different Jesus..
THAT IS THE POINT! What Anglicans consider the BASICS were not basic at all until Rome made the church decide one belief in the mid-third century. Even that didn't stick for decades. But by the 4th century the 'basics' that Catholic and Protestant churches still believe were established.
They are NOT BASIC. Many are the opinions and twists of people like Clement of Alexandria (a 'church father' who introduced in his writings and ideas the ideas of Plato and the Greek philosophers).
The Reformation did not go back to the Bible - it only removed the most obvious 'magic and hocus-pocus nonsense' that the Catholics had added after perhaps 500-700AD. It KEPT the nonsense added before that.
Wesley a hero of the faith?
Did he believe what Paul or Peter or John believed? I think not - in fact their writings state not.
Wesley was, like many thousands before him, taught by man rather than taught by God's Word and fellowshipped by others that did the same. Remember that concept (people learning FROM the Bible) was condemned in the fourth century and it was not one of the things cast aside by the Protestants - instead they taught their priests to tell people what to understand and cast out or killed those that didn't. Exactly as the Catholics did in fact... with bishops' hats laid with gold and starving peasants told to bow and scrape to keep the 'church' happy with it's land and riches.
Which of these guys most looks and acts, is as wealthy as, and dresses as Jesus did?

I'll state I think Jesus would assume neither were leaders of his church if this was 112AD. Does 1900 years really forgive this alteration? No - it doesn't need to! As soon as the church was no longer persecuted but was given power, the bishops lapped it up. Power and wealth - lapped it up.
God forgive them - they corrupted the church way back then
((I'm sorry I tried to find this or another pic from a different source but couldn't - there is a better one I've seen - I give credit to the blog it is from though I see it is actually a scan of Sky TV pictures - so it is to them I give credit))
Interesting. I never said you needed to prove anything. You are an individual and only have God to answer to. Similarly I would never try to prove someone wrong. I might show they appear to be. But only God knows for sure. Before we discus anything concerning our faith, you must remove the hardness from your heart because you have already told me that I need to prove you wrong, to for you to apologize. I do not need to prove you anything, I need to show you love.

You asked me which nonsense was removed during the Reformation. I could be wrong on those issues so I answered with a series of questions as you suggest I don't know what Catholics believe. I would be happy to receive instruction in any matter I have in error.
Prayer is not "asking" by definition. A prayer of thanksgiving can be made, asking nothing. If we are to talk about prayers, we need to first understand what does the word prayer means. To pray is to ask, but the reason we say prayer instead of asking is because we are communicating with those in heaven.
First of all - what makes you so sure that they can even hear you? Can they hear your every spoken word from heaven? How about read your thoughts? So simply stated we ask our christian brothers and sisters in heaven to pray for us and guide us.
I think you should re-think this one a bit...How is this possible?

You pray to things that are not God in order to love God - just like the golden calf - it was not that they prayed to a different God - it was just that they made an image to pray to.rock022 said:Yes I do pray to the angels also. You may be familiar with the guardian angel prayer [at least heard of it] The concept of praying to God is never an issue because we love God above all. However He also told us to love one another, this is where we see difference. Most of you believe that to love another you take away from God, when in fact you add more glory to our Lord. If God is everything that is good, what is so bad in asking the blessed virgin Mary for prayers? Is She not in heaven? If she isn't then it is impossible to get to heaven.
Find fault and condemn other Christians and you are sure to have nonbelievers stay that way due to the terrible witness.
