Dear polarguyinak worked really hard on scheduling a meeting for CC members that was going to happen this August. Unfortunately, no one was able to make it so the reservation wasn't made. And even though the price was the best deal that could ever be mustered, still it was a bit too much for some budgets. Good work to ya, man. You did great!
But here is why I'm posting...
His efforts gave me an idea.
How about meeting in a church?
We could sleep in the church, have bible studies, worship, the Word, and fun activities all day for a few days. A group of volunteers would organize and set up everything needed, with activities and games suggested by you! Meals and other things would be planned and prepared by us with shifts, so it's a collective work with cooking/cleaning, and with speaking/leading.
Some time would be used for evangelism and outreach to the community, and some for giving back to the host church - cleaning, painting, or yard work; whatever is needed.
Cost would be very minimal, only for food and cleaning supplies so as to take the burden off of the host church. Traveling would be at the individual's expense. No hotel charge unless at individual's expense.
AND I have the perfect church in mind. My church in Memphis is a great size, with dozens of rooms to sleep in, including dorms were 20 or so could sleep in bunk beds. Lots of showers and a very safe area. I can put in a request in December for this to happen in June or July.
I just need to know... how many would be interested? More people = cheaper price. And in looking at all that above, it shouldn't be much. I just couldn't give you an estimate as of right now. No more than $150, for SURE!
