I do not understand why do we have to prove that speaking in tongue is ceased or vice versa? Its not in the scripture that it is ceased for everybody. When its needed God will provide. If God stop it for some reason, for some person for a time let it be. If God gives anything than let God give. He can bring good out of evil too. Why this kind of thing bother us? Instead of that lets celebrate and share the love of Jesus with them who don't know.

Every Truth that the Father wants for us HE has established thru Witnesses found in His Word - Because there are many false teachers today, it was important to God that His People know the Truth.

The Gifts were established By God for His People - anyone who says that they have 'ceased' is ignorant and lying.

Scripture cannot lie - therefore this Thread was established to PROVE, by Scripture Alone = the TRUTH - Amen

The pentecostal movement is proud to claime that their beginning was in 1900 with Agnes Ozman, Topeka and later in Azusa Street. It is interesting that the RCC charismatic movement is also proud and see their beginning in 1901 because the Pope Leo XIll declared the century to the Holy Spirit inspired through the italian nun Helena Guerra who asked him to renew the church through a turn to the Holy Spirit and his Gifts.

You told me I am unbiblical because I said special gifts were given special people for a special time.
Samson had his Power for a special time for a special purpose.
Can you show me one Single believer today, through whom such miracles are done as from Paul? (f.e. acts 19,11-12)
Out of the montanism, which startet around in the year 160, there is not to found that speaking in tongues was practised in the churches anymore. And people join this movement because they remebered the apostolic time ( f.e. what was useual in the corinthian church) and thought it was from God.
So show me where this teaching is biblical.

Speaking in tongues is a gift like every other gift, too.
But according the pentecostal/charismatic movements speaking in tongues is the proof that someone receives the Holy Spirit. What we have since 1900.
Some believe even that you need the speaking in tongues for to be saved, like the oneness pentecostals which splittet some years after Azusa Street revival.
In the beginning of the pentecostal movement this was combined with practices you will find in spiritism. And later in charismatic movements this happend too.

God and His Spirit will often remain silent when in the midst of a doubters. It may not be your own doubt as much as that of the circle you are affiliated with at any given time. I never heared some teaching that speaking in tongues is like all other gifts, mentioned in 1. Cor 12 or Romans 12, 4-8 ( where no gift of speaking in tongues is mentioned)
Acts is not teaching about speaking in tongues. It tells from the beginning of the church through coming of the Holy Spirit. And as sign for his coming he gave the Speaking in tongues ( languages). And for the jews to know that the Holy Spirit came for all he repeat this with the Samaritans ( Acts 8) the gentiles (Acts 10) and the disciples of John the baptist( Acts 19)

Instead pentecostals and charismatics teach the gift of speaking in tongues always combined with the baptising with the Holy Spirit.
The practice of this teaching you find not before 1900. You find speaking in tongues before 1900 in the newer time almost in cults like new apostolic church.
