Chalk and cheese r not at all alike . So , if u know two people that r married and they r very different to each other , u might say that they r ; like chalk and cheese . Old english saying . It's used to refer to two things that r very very different .

Need to give some well known examples if we know of any...

Oh yes I heard about the legendary buffets, designed to keep you coming back for more...and losing your $$

Who runs the hotels casinos in Vegas? Is it still Harrahs? Or is it the Mafia, or some other unknown mobs of trillionaire tycoons? Don't tell me your current Chief leader owns it all.

MGM Resorts International and Caesar's Entertainment own over half of the big hotel-casinos. The government doesn't own any. The mob hasn't owned vegas since the 80s. It's all owned by big corporations now.

In the 80s and 90s you could get a steak and eggs breakfast at one of the hotel-casino restaurants for like $3. The buffets were like $10 a person, all you can eat and they had good food and lots of selections. Last time I checked they were like $40. Back then the casinos were very busy and they made so much profit that they could afford to lure people with cheap buffets.

The $4 steak and eggs was worth the drive. And it was a 10 or 12 once steak.

I remember when buffets were $13 a head for a good Chinese one in town. Sadly it's no more.
The one buffet at the casino in town, was always popular, went to it one birthday, but the parking! You have to pay at least $40 for a day/night's parking before you even get to the food!

Nowadays you could catch the bus and it is cheaper, but conversely the prices of the food would have gone up. And yea $40 or even $50 per head seems normal these days (NZ dollars)
Buying a mains at an ordinary restaurant will be at least $25-$40 not including drinks.

My favourite is Wendy's of course, the deluxe cheeseburger, but McDonalds quarter pounder isn't bad. Its just the prices have gone up at Maccas too,

If you can't get an american style cheeseburger, restaurants have discovered loaded fries, and actually quite popular and filling meal in itself. We never used to have loaded fries. It was always just plain fish and chips, or maybe lemon pepper, with side of tartare or tomato sauce.

Have a huge dairy industry in NZ now with specialty cheeses, but the most popular has been and always will be cheddar.
A cheese toasted sandwich, or a cheese and marmite (untoasted) sandwich is a popular takeaway. Or picnic food. Nzers are always eating on the go or in cars or on the beach.

Meat pies...with mince and cheese.

Maybe we have similar tastes because when I was working full-time, my favorite burger place for lunch was Wendy's and my second favorite was a quarter pounder from McDonalds. I also liked Jack-in-the-Box but they were more expensive.

Never had Jack-in-the-box, we have Burger King but I never like their burgers for some reason. IDK just too salty or something. Or maybe burned. Then I heard because they aren't cooked properly on the flame grill, they then microwave them?!

Burger King were the first to have endless refills though.
I liked getting my own fizzy, and the ice machine, and mixing the different ones.

I always wondered if she was trying to copy Pippi Longstocking with her pigtails, or maybe was related to her in some ways. Gingers always stand out. I can name so many ginger haired girls in popular culture.
