Anybody got Newness of Life?

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

It's not a matter of trying to earn salvation thru good works... It's a matter of being obedient verses being disobedient!

Those that accept the calling of the Lord and become new creatures in Christ Jesus abiding in Him doing good works by the power of the Holy Spirit within as the Lord leads... these are true children of God.

Those claiming to be saved not walking in obedience have rejected the ordination and calling of the Lord and are the children of disobedience who refuse to put on the new man and walk in newness of life to stop being servants of sin...

Colossians 3:5-9
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Ephesians 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Romans 13:14
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Hebrews 9:14

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Romans 6:4-6
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

As these scripture references indicate, those not accepting the calling of the Lord to be led by the Holy Ghost into walking after the new man are in disobedience... which will NOT end well for them unless they repent of their sin and get with the Lord's game plan!

You are "changed" enough to know you don't desire to be without God and go back to how you were before you knew God, correct?

I am, so I am "changed" enough to be where I am at in my walk in God and now I desire to be more with God.
Don't they become a new creation...2 Corinthians 5:17.

Not stupid.
I will not watch Charles Stanley's false messages that negate the power of the gospel to transform ppl from their conforming to the world and it's lusts. Freedom from the dominion of sin is not the freedom to sin !

Yes, why you don't accept this?

If you claim this is old testament - WHERE is this taught in the OT?

The prayer of faith saved and continually saves me from being sick so it applies to me since Jesus took all my sickness and disease on the Cross so I wouldn't have to accept them.
It‘s not OT, but tribulation doctrine for the Jews. Signs and wonders are at play once again. The rest of your statement is laughable.

Freedom from the dominion of sin is not the freedom to sin !

Exactly, and yet this is what most churches are teaching.

They will say you should not sin and if you do you'll lose some rewards such as having a small mansion in Heaven while everyone else has a gigantic McMansion and you'll feel really bad about that (this whole line of thinking is all about what they will get - what is in it for me if I serve the Lord).

One of the biggest lies most churches teach these days is that all of your future sins are already pre-forgiven

That would mean at the Cross Jesus took away seedtime and harvest, or took away we we reap what we sown. God calls this claim mocking Him!

Galatians 6:7-8 (see Gen 8:22)
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

When one chooses to turn away from the Lord and go do sin, they are reaping corruption because they are choosing to no longer abide in Christ, but instead they choose to take off the New Man and put the old man back on and go do sin, rejecting the Lord in the process.

1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not

Those that abide in Christ do not knowingly do sin

1 John 1:6
if we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

James 4:17
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil

John 8:34
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Luke 18:13 resolves this supposed dilemma.

That does not mean the Lord approves and accept people living in sin as some suppose.

We need to look at the whole counsel of the Lord on the topic of sin in order to get the whole picture which overwhelmingly shows us that sinful behavior is not acceptable to the Lord and causes some to not inherit the Kingdom.

That's sad because all one has to do it repent and quit walking after the flesh!

Luke 18:13 resolves this supposed dilemma.

Luke 18:13
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Humbleness is a great key to God's supremacy in ones life.
1 Peter 5:6-7
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

James 4:7-10
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

An humble submitted heart seeks only to do the will of God !

Hebrews 10:26-31
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
In regard to Hebrews 10:26, to "sin willfully" here carries the idea of deliberate intention that is habitual, which stems from rejecting Christ deliberately. This is continuous action, a matter of practice. Now we don't walk along our daily life and "accidentally" fall into a pit called sin. We exercise our will but, the use of the participle clearly shows continuous, willful, habitual, continuous action. The unrighteous practice sin (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21); not the righteous, who are born of God. (1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 John 3:9)

If the word 'sanctified' in Hebrews 10:29 is used to describe saved people who lost their salvation and became unsanctified, then we have a contradiction because the writer of Hebrews in verse 10 said "sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all" (Hebrews 10:10) and in verse 14, we read, "perfected for all time those who are sanctified." (Hebrews 10:14) So, in Hebrews 10:10, we clearly read ..WE have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. In Hebrews 10:14, we read - For by one offering He has perfected for all time THOSE who are sanctified. So, to go from sanctified back to un-sanctified would be in contradiction here.

*NOWHERE in the context does it specifically say the person who "trampled underfoot the Son of God and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant" was "saved" and/or "lost their salvation." The reference to "the blood of the covenant that sanctified him" in verse 29 "on the surface" appears to be referring to a Christian, but this overlooks the fact that the word translated "sanctified" (which is the verb form of the adjective "holy") which means "set apart," and doesn't always necessarily refer to salvation.

Strong's Concordance
hagiazó: to make holy, consecrate, sanctify
Original Word: ἁγιάζω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: hagiazó
Phonetic Spelling: (hag-ee-ad'-zo)
Definition: to make holy, consecrate, sanctify
Usage: I make holy, treat as holy, set apart as holy, sanctify, hallow, purify.

Strong's Greek: 37. ἁγιάζω (hagiazó) -- to make holy, consecrate, sanctify (biblehub.com)

In 1 Corinthians 7:14, Paul uses the term "sanctified" to specifically refer to non-Christians who are "set apart" by their believing spouse (and by this Paul does not mean that they are saved). A non-Christian can be "set apart" from other non-Christians without experiencing salvation as Paul explained. So, the word "sanctified" means to be "set apart." If the word "sanctified" simply meant saved in every case, then you would have to say that the seventh day was saved (Genesis 2:3), the tabernacle was saved (Exodus 29:43), Moses saved the people after coming down off the mountain (Exodus 19:14), the priests and the Levites saved themselves (1 Chronicles 15:14), the Father saved the Son (John 10:36), the Son saved Himself (John 17:19) and many other things that do not line up with Scripture.

In verse 39, the writer of Hebrews sets up the CONTRAST that makes it clear to me that he was referring to "nominal" Christians (make believers) and not saved people: But WE are not OF THOSE who draw back to perdition, but OF THOSE who believe to the saving of the soul. Those who draw back to perdition do not believe to the saving of the soul and those who believe to the saving of the soul do not draw back to perdition.

So, after considering the CONTEXT, it seems most likely that "he was sanctified" should be understood in the sense of someone who had been "set apart" or identified as a professing believer in this Hebrew Christian community of believers, but later renounces his identification with these believers, by rejecting the "knowledge of the truth" that he had received and trampling underfoot the work and the person of Christ himself. This gives evidence that his identification with these Hebrew Christians was only superficial and that he was not a genuine believer.

In regard to Galatians 6:7-8, the one who is continuously (Greek present tense) sows to his own corrupt, flesh which is opposed to God and unrenewed by the Holy Spirit shall of the flesh reap corruption. Our life here is sowing of one kind or another. But he who sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Only believers sow to the Spirit and from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Romans 8:8 - So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

1 John 1:6
if we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1 John 1:6 - If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. Walking in darkness is descriptive of children of the devil. Walking in the light is descriptive of children of God.

In 1 John 2:9, we read - He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. In vs. 11 - But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

*Compare with 1 John 3:10 - In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, (compare with 1 John 1:6 - does not practice the truth) nor is he who does not love his brother. *Notice that "walks in darkness, hates his brother" is descriptive of "children of the devil."

1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not
Sinneth not (ουχ αμαρτανε). Linear present (linear μενων, keeps on abiding) active indicative of αμαρτανω, "does not keep on sinning." For μενω (abide) see 1 John 2:6; John 15:4-10.

Whosoever sinneth (ο αμαρτανων). Present (linear) active articular participle like μενων above, "the one who keeps on sinning" (lives a life of sin, not mere occasional acts of sin as αμαρτησας, aorist active participle, would mean).

Hath not seen him (ουχ εωρακεν αυτον). Perfect active indicative of οραω. The habit of sin is proof that one has not the vision or the knowledge (εγνωκεν, perfect active also) of Christ. He means, of course, spiritual vision and spiritual knowledge, not the literal sense of οραω in John 1:18; John 20:29.

1 John 3 - Robertson's Word Pictures in the New Testament - Bible Commentaries - StudyLight.org

1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil
He that doeth sin (ο ποιων την αμαρτιαν). "He that keeps on doing sin" (the habit of sin).

Of the devil (εκ του διαβολου). In spiritual parentage as Jesus said of the Pharisees in John 8:44. When one acts like the devil he shows that he is not a true child of God.

Sinneth from the beginning (απ' αρχης αμαρτανε). Linear progressive present active indicative, "he has been sinning from the beginning" of his career as the devil. This is his normal life and those who imitate him become his spiritual children.

That he might destroy (ινα λυση). Purpose clause with ινα and the first aorist active subjunctive of λυω. This purpose (εις τουτο) Jesus had and has. There is eternal conflict, with final victory over Satan certain.

1 John 3 - Robertson's Word Pictures in the New Testament - Bible Commentaries - StudyLight.org

John 8:34
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
Every one that committeth sin is the bondservant of sin (πας ο ποιων την αμαρτιαν δουλος εστιν [της αμαρτιασ]). The Western class omits της αμαρτιας (sin), but that is the idea anyhow. Note the use of ποιων (present active participle, continuous habit or practice), not ποιησας (aorist active participle for single act), precisely as in 1 John 3:4-8. Note also John 3:21 for ο ποιων την αληθειαν (the one who practices the truth). Sin, like the worst narcotic, is habit forming. Hence the problem today for criminologists for paroled or pardoned criminals nearly always go back to crime, sink again into sin, the slaves of sin. Xenophon has this notion of the slavery of sin (Memor. IV. 5. 3). So Paul clearly in Romans 6:17; Romans 6:20 "slaves of sin" (δουλο της αμαρτιας).

John 8 - Robertson's Word Pictures in the New Testament - Bible Commentaries - StudyLight.org

Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
Paul teaches us that sinning is unacceptable behavior, and although Christians are not completely free of sin (1 John 1:8-10; 2:1) Christians have been made free from sin (Romans 6:22) from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)

OSAS says that God chooses who will be saved, and not saved in the beginning and they have no choice.

So they cannot fall away because they were chosen by God.

But the Bible says if any person thinks they stand, take heed lest you fall.

For that is when they get relaxed and not serious about living for God and then results in many hypocrites not acting Christlike as they enjoy sin and believe they are saved.

Which some have a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, which they will not allow the Spirit to lead them but are led of the flesh to enjoy sin, but believe they are saved.

Which they make excuses like we are only human, and we cannot abstain from sin, and we are not perfect, so they can enjoy their life of sin.

But there is no excuse for a Spirit led person will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, for they have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts, and show the ways of the Spirit and not the flesh, and God will not allow them to be tempted above what they are able, and will give them an escape from the temptation so they can bear it.

They hold on to sin and believe they are alright, but if a person sins wilfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth then there is no more sacrifice for sins, which if a person holds on to sin the blood of Jesus cannot wash it away for God will not take away a sin they hold on to.

OSAS is false, and does a lot of damage as it produces hypocrites which then they are not right with God, but the world says hypocrites and do not want to embrace Christianity.

God said He wants all people to be saved, and come unto the knowledge of the truth.

And the Lord is not willing that any should perish but all come to repentance.

And the Spirit and bride says Come, and whoever wants that salvation can have that salvation.

Also God's kingdom is true love, and He is not evil to condemn people who have no choice but to reject the truth seeing no alternative.

OSAS would go against the nature of God that He is love, and good.

You can program your computer to say I love you but does it really love you, and you can program your computer to say I hate you and will you get mad and smash it.

Why would God allow the people to be born that He did not choose if they were to be condemned, and why are they being punished when they have no choice but to reject the truth.

What is the criteria for God choosing the people to be saved for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and if you break the least of the law you broke the whole law, and God is no respecter of persons, and the Bible says what makes you to differ from another, and there is none that does good, no, not one.

And they misunderstand predestination which does not mean that God chooses who will be saved in the beginning without their choice, but it means that God already had the plan to give mankind salvation before He laid down the foundation of the world, and this salvation is to whoever wants this salvation.

The Bible says God calls things that have not happened yet, as though they already happened, for if it is a plan of God to happen in the future it is the same as if it happened in the beginning, for it will surely come to pass with no hindrance.

The Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world but it was a future event.

The blood of the prophets was shed from the foundation of the world.

Christ is the beginning of creation even though the man Christ Jesus was not born until after the creation.

Which in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God, for it is the plan of God to come in the future in flesh, and all things were made because of that plan, and without that plan no thing was made that was made for Jesus is the reason creation is successful to give people salvation, and to judge the angels, and people.

The kingdom was prepared from the foundation of the world but Jesus said He goes away to prepare a kingdom for them so it is a future event.

Many are called but few are chosen, which not many noble, not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, are called because their heart condition is not right.

But why is God calling people that cannot be chosen if everyone's fate is already chosen in the beginning.

When God calls a person He will work in their life to get them to the truth, and when they get to the door of truth they have to choose to walk through it for His kingdom is true love, but they would of not got to the door of truth if He did not intervene in their life for the flesh alone will not do it for in the flesh dwells no good thing, and the Spirit and flesh are contrary.

And the door of truth is to repent of your sins not wanting to do them anymore, confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and to allow the Spirit to lead you to be Christlike.

Which not all people do that which is why the Bible says they have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, and do not come to the truth.

Which the Lord knows them that are His having this seal that everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Which Jesus said not everyone that says Lord, Lord, will enter heaven for they did not do the will of the Father, but were workers of iniquity.

Which the Bible says out of faith, hope, and charity, love in action, charity is the greatest.

Love is greater than faith, and faith works by love.

Which the Bible says that charity does not think an evil thought, and does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth to be led of the Spirit to abstain from sin.

Which love is the fulfilling of the law.

So if a person holds unto sin then it is not love, then faith does not apply in their life, so they are not saved, because love is greater than faith.

That is why Paul said he could have all faith so that he could remove mountains, but if he did not have charity then he is nothing.

And James said if they do not have works which he is speaking about charity caring about the needs of other people then their faith is dead for love is greater than faith.

So Paul and James say the same thing all the while some people argue over them which is saying the Bible has a contradiction which they should find the harmony.

John said without charity then the love of God does not dwell in them, so do not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed, works, and truth.

For love is only valid when it is done in action, works.

We are not saved by works, but by faith, when we first confess Christ for that is all we can do, but when we receive the Spirit then we have to have works of love to have faith active in our life.

They try to carry not works throughout their Christian life but we have to have works of love by the Spirit to be saved, so we are not trying to do works to be saved by the flesh, but works of the Spirit to be Christlike, and love.

OSAS has done a lot of damage in hypocrisy, and neglecting the poor and needy, as they are enjoying sin with their money for they enjoy sin and believe they are saved.

God said by ye holy for I am holy, and Jesus always helped the poor and needy, and said the animals have homes, but I do not.

If we are to be holy as God is holy then how can we do that if we hold on to sin which is another reason not to sin.

God said sin separates us from Him and it does not matter if you confess Christ or not you have to abstain from sin.

The Bible says a person should fear for if God did not spare the Hebrews that did not abide in the truth then take heed lest He also not spare you for if you do not continue in the goodness of God you will also be cut off.

That is the difference between those led of the Spirit, and those not led of the Spirit, for those led of the Spirit if they sin will repent of it, and mean it, and move forward in the Spirit, but those not led of the Spirit will sin and will repent of the act but hold on to the sin wanting to do it again, or they will think they do not have to repent.

God knows the heart whether people let the sin go or not, and doing a sin and repenting of it but only the act, but not letting it go is not repentance for they are not turning from sin.

Every time we sin we are forfeiting repentance and will not be right with God until we repent of it and allow the Spirit to lead us.

No, Calvinism says that.

But the Bible says if any person thinks they stand, take heed lest you fall.
Proverbs 24:16 - For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

ALL false religions and cults that promote salvation by works strongly oppose OSAS which has always been a major red flag for me.

Sometimes, we need to see the extreme circumstance in order to see the theology as false.

Let say, you have lived a life pleasing to God. When you do sin, you repent and are spared condemnation of your sin. One day, you're driving down the highway and you have an unclean thought and right then, a truck swerves hitting your vehicle killing you. You end up in hell fire because you did not repent of your unclean thought in time.

Ridiculous theology. It all depends on your ability to keep from sinning, therefore, there is room to boast.
