I'd say a good half my female friends i have i made through them PMing me first. I get PMed me females on a fairly regular basis. So many women make such a huge issue out of being PMed by men, and think that the only reason a guy would PM this is to hit on them, so it's too much trouble for me to initiate.
Sometimes i initiate chat in main, but i generally don't prefer to talk in main. So it can be slow going for me o make new friends because of all this.

I can see where you guys are coming from. I have seen a lot of not very nice warnings in women's PM boxes about trying to PM them. I would imagine there are times when women become so fed up with lewd comments that they might even bark at the nice guys. :)

Yes, I heard a lot of females get creepy messages from guys and vice versa. . . To avoid it, I divert or change the subject/topic that will somehow hmm, make them not interested anymore. LOL :)

I'm generally with ya here... That's kinda my stance in life. Don't send the first text, don't send the first pm, blah blah blah. But I do break my own rule occasionally and it's usually due to the fact I'm bored out of my mind. I try to pm the ladies I know that I like first in those times, but if people are busy then... new person? Perhaps I should really enforce my rule so as not to create confusion.

Also, if I'm in the mood to flirt... I generally flirt with the girls since I feel that it won't create any awkwardness (unless they believe I'm actually flirting with them... in which case, ahem, I'm sorry. ...wow, that's embarrassing...)

So true. I generally like talking to women as that's just how I am, I get on better with them, but yeah you see a lot of semi-rude messages for men not to messages women, but I accept it and understand that they have had so much creeping that they don't want ANY men to message them. ONE thing however that bothers me is when I say hello to a girl I haven't spoken to before, and she just doesn't reply. I think it would be the decent thing to do just to say "Hey I don't PM :)". After all, this IS a chat site, so it's only normal that people want to chat! :P I find the rudeness of that just as bad as a man creeping.
