I have a niece and nephew (9 and 6), they have started coming to Sunday service with me :) .. they mainly go for the Sunday school which included colouring, drawing and singing, how do I out of school and service get them to understand God and want to know Him more and have Him in their lives, not just for fun at Sunday school?
 
Look at Sunday school as a backup, a support tool. Not as a teacher. If you want them to understand, be their teacher. Let Sunday school reinforce what you teach.
Perhaps, if possible, ask ahead of time what the next class will be on. Cover that topic with the kids yourself, Then when they enter Sunday school it will be a reminder/reinforcer of what they already have learned.
Sunday school tends to be mostly about Christian based entertainment rather than learning.
 
Sunday School will help, but let's face it....... if God is not a part of their family's daily life, SS won't go far.

2. Be that.

Honestly, as much as my family does not want to hear about the Lord, I can't help it. He's a big part of my life, so I can't not talk about him.
 
well, been to service this morning, and my nephew didn't want to come. its difficult as they are not my children, and don't want to feel like I'm pressuring them
 
It is natural children do not want to go sometimes, lizzie, but we can only encourage. Someone said if u can cover the material they do at home too, and for me the songs would be a great thing to be sharing w/ them. If u know what theyve been taught, then sing together. It may be that the children's parents do not go to church, but how do we know how a child could help lead their parents to Christ. In our church, some children are allowed to come, often being fetched by some church members where there've been some outreach done, when parents arent still believers. Soon a parent is coming in too, and in time the family.
 
pray pray pray sister. Ask the Holy Spirit to soften their (and their parents') hearts. Pray that the Holy Spirit with guide your tongue and prompt you to speak the right thing at the right time.

It is not easy. Do you have a chance to spend time with the kids beyond Sunday?
E.g. lunch, babysitting
I guess I'll be very intentional in sprinkling bible nuggets to the kids every time I see them. Biblical principles, about how loving Father God is, about Jesus saving us....etc
It may take several years to take roots. But never underestimate the power of God's word sister. Kids always hear things more than we assume. Trust that God is faithful and don't give up~
