There was a time when we heard people say"We need to do away with pictures of Jesus on the cross because He's risen & no longer there. Back then I agreed.
But you know what happened to those that did? They quit thinking about Jesus on the cross dying for their sins & started thinking about themselves.
The older folks who left the church were right.... we should have left it the way it was. The REAL reason it was changed was because WE changed, & no longer wanted it. We were fooled.

The greatest reminder of the Lord is His word and prayer. If a person has trouble remembering the cross they need to get into God's word more and pray for the Holy Spirit's help.

It's so simple but human nature always thinks it knows better.

I think many people today expect Christians to be weak in the face of evil, which is why the church is often so ineffective and effeminate. I for one applaud Chris Rosebrough for calling out these wolves in sheepskins for what they are, in an honest, reasoned way that I don't believe brings Christ's name into disrepute.

I agree. I listen to pod casts often. I like pirate Christian radio, but its no longer a pod cast. I also like his you tube channel.
Christ extensively uses the Bible to point out the error of false teachers and prophets. Possibly there is more bible reading in his videos than some churches have on a Sunday service.

There's no sense reading the word if one doesn't put it into practice. Here's a verse you may have skipped over:

Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

The old folks knew that the pictures etc. were there where the church met for a reason.

Thats a good one.
So many modern christians see themselves as an island in time rather than a part of an extensive family with a lineage back to Christ. Not sure how or when modernist egalitarianism crept into the church but it is a noxious weed.

Even the early church didn't cut off their Old Testament heritage - it was and is all part of God's salvation plan. It is folly to ignore the wisdom of those older and wiser than us - those who went before.

I don’t know much about Lutherans but icons in a church are not idiols despite what people what to believe , and we all have free will to chose what we want to believe.
I’m East Orthodox by the way but primarily I identify myself as a follower of Christ And I try not to dissect the Bible but trying to get as much Living Water daily in my life.

I love watching your pascal vigil celebrations. Very beautiful ceremony.

Iconography are teaching tools. It helps to put a visual to the words.

One of Luther's arguments against the Pope was their attempt to anathematize the Eastern Church.

Its good to be a part of the ancient church that keeps the memory of the ancient martyrs alive.

In the video they clearly made the case that JD Hall can never be a pastor again, but that he can repent and be restored to fellowship. That is the standard for all pastors who are found to be in egregious sin. I have never once heard Chris say other wise

Really? Crosses are all over the place. The Reformed Movement and later Baptists, many Evangilical groups, Pentecostals etc. have crosses in church but not crucifixes. Paintings of Jesus in churches I have been to are rate. It is not tge culture really, even though it may not be a major doctrinal point and some churches would have depictions of Jesus in their Sunday school materials.

The 10 commandments have that part about not making a graven image. If we brlieve in the deity of Christ is it appropriate to make a graven image to depict God.

The Israelies daid the golden calf was their God who brought them up out of Egypt.

Well snarky and misrepresenting someone and being snarky while being wrong are quite irritating to watch.

So you don't see the difference in having a sculpture depicting the passion of Christ and worshipping a golden calf?
