Hey you guys, Theres this girl i have known for a pretty good length of time and eventually feelings developed between us. the problem is i recently found out that she was Buddhist. i dont believe that she carrys extreme belief in all of buddhism but she said that was her religion. im a full devout christian with no plans of converting anytime for anyone. Im just afraid if we start something it would upset big guns upstairs. any tips?

how many people gotta tell you dont be unequally yoked

dont believe that buddhists are pacifists

the buddhist srilankans recently wiped out the hindu tamils

don't do it man

before you know it you'll be rubbing statues' stomachs and giving them bowls of food.

you guys will never be on the same page as in your ideals based on the bible and hers on no bible at all. I would advise not to go into this relationship further.

Deffinatly don't do it. You're 14, you don't need a relationship that bad, and you shouldn't at any time in your life. I think the question that will answer you is: Who do yo love more? This girl? Or God?

If you're really interested in this girl, try to sway her, don't let her sway you. Most Budhists (at least the ones I know) believe that Jesus was real. If this is her case, show her all the points in the bible that conflict with Budhism. A big one being John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, but through me.". This is one of the most important verses to use if she's one of those, "I believe all religions are right, just not right for everybody" kind of Budhists, since it expresses very explicity the exclusivity of Christianity. Use logic to explain that if this is true, then it's true, and there's only one way into Heaven. If it's not true, then Jesus is a liar, and his death would've meant nothing, therefore not all religions can be right if they all (and almost all do) claim exclusivity over the others.

I would be careful, considering you're rather young (hey, so am I), but I would study Budhism, idealy from a Christian perspective, looking for ways that you could (tactfully) debate this girl, and show her Jesus. One really good Christian author that writes on Budhism is Ravi Zacharias. He has a book called The Lotus and the Cross which is a fictional conversation between Budha, Christ and a random lady. He also wrote Jesus Among Other Gods, a very good book. If you're not the reading type, check him out on youtube. Just search for Ravi Zacharias. Ravi used to be Hindu, and Budhism stems out of Hinduism and mixes Taoism to a degree. He's well versed in the major religions of the world.

If you're really into the girl, try to add her to our ranks, but stay strictly platonic until she's a Christian.

nice idea wug but way too dangerous, who else has been there?

Buddhists also smell funny, just thought I'd bring that out to the open. All the incense and things I suppose.

........On a side note: Sharp you are absolutely hilarious................I mean that first comment, I about ROLLED ON THE FLOOR..............Thanks a lot..........What a burst of SERATONIN...................WOOOOHOOOO!!!!

OK BACK TO THE TOPIC=== CROWE, IT'S FINE TO APPRECIATE THIS YOUNG LADY, BECAUSE SHE IS ALSO CREATED BY THE LORD. Even though she doesn't know that yet.

However, first of all you are still very young, no offense intended at all. You can definately pray for her, it's a good starter for your future relationships and eventually marriage. Let the LORD give you instruction as to how to be a good BROTHER to her, WOO HER TO THE LORD, NOT TO YOURSELF........HE will do this in HIS timing, and beware, there are definate spiritual principalities involved here, even though she is not necessarrily a practicing Buddist.

Those spirits would much rather ruin your walk with GOD than her walk with Budda.........(not that there is such a thing). Easy does it bro...........You have your whole life ahead of you .............It might be better for you and her, to mention her to some of the young Christian ladies you know at Church or Youth group, or even in your School. At least mention this to your Youth Pastor or the Senior Pastor at your Church...........

BE CAUTIOUS CROWE........

AND ANOTHER SIDE NOTE HERE.................SHARP............YOU NEED TO DO THE COMEDY CIRCUIT FOR REAL....................AND SOME OF THE WOMEN ARE BALD TOO.................OH MY GOSH.............

Those were the best two comedy moments on CC I have heard yet.............Hey that's why GOD said " A merry heart does good like a medicine..............Proverbs 17

Thanks again,

SeekinHIM

Glad to be of service SeekinHIM! I've known more than my fair share of buddhists in my short life! :)
