As a music minister and former SOUTHERN GOSPEL pianist who has travelled, recorded in the studio and live concerts, and even been on stage with Michael W. Smith in a backup choir, I have seen music come full circle. THere has been and will always be a bit of a gap between Traditional and Modern more youthful interpretations of CHRISTIAN music. My dad hated GOSPEL ROCK and Heavy Metal Gospel, such as Stryper, WHITECROSS, etc. Now we have RAP and who knows that the future will bring. Here is the basic thing you have to ask yourself: "Is it Holy Spirit annointed"? Yes, GOD can use anyone's background for HIS purposes. Yes, the talent is out there. Yes, the performance and WOW factor is there. Even Queen put out a magnificent song called JESUS, ELVIS and all country musicians end up recording a GOSPEL track or two. ROCK 'n ROLL artists are known to have a gospel flavored tune in their releases. Grand FUNK RAILROAD re-recorded SOME KIND of WONDERFUL and put JESUS into the mix and now it can be sung by a sunday choir. Even if the artist who wrote and recorded the song is NOT a Christ follower, another singer who is can sing the same song and touch someone's spirit. Kris Kristopherson wrote "WHY me, LORD" but others brought it into the church. Heck, if GOD can use a donkey for HIS purposes, HE can surely use a rapper too! lol

I was using my swipe keyboard on my phone haha. I can't see how anyone couldn't like him he just seems so real LOve this song http://youtu.be/XZNEaTWxG_o
I do not think that it is a matter of people not liking Lecrae; it seems that more people are just upset that Lecrae has become the face of "Christian Rap." Lecrae is just a man, like all other people. Now he has become a celebrity with global recognition.

As a fellow rapper and music producer, I have heard many other rappers who do an excellent job of expressing the gospel clearly without mixing in too much secular influence. It is just really hard to stay focused on spitting the gospel when there are so many distractions concerning listener engagement. Lecrae is a big deal because he is extremely popular on so many different media channels. His Facebook page has nearly 2 million likes. His albums are in most major retail stores. So it easy for everyone to name drop Lecrae as the best Christian rapper and most people will agree because he is the only Christian rapper that they know of.

I do think that Lecrae has some good songs with powerful messages, but I also think that there are other artists that I prefer over Lecrae. Anyhow, I always pray that people who hear Lecrae's music will repent and turn to Jesus Christ.

No. I no longer like Lecrae's music. Not for the last few albums. I remember when i first discovered him, After The Music Stops and Real Talk, had no idea who he was. Loved the albums. Rebel i thought lost a little, but still had some good stuff. Ever since then he's changed. His music has changed. He's no longer a person that even blips on my radar anymore. Plenty of other solid rappers out there whose lyrics still have something to them and still seems to love what they do.

HEY THIS IS A SONG JESUS GAVE ME TO PUT OUT.
I know this song is truly meant for believers, those who know about what happened in Genesis 6. Enjoy my brothers and sisters. I listened to a lot of christian rap before and I always had a burning fire in my heart to make my own so I had to put my so called faith into action. I do not make soft christian rap with just nice beats... it's all about the words... that His words may burn forth.. ALL GLORY TO JESUS

Being a songwriter for a hobby....I totally agree...its not the beat,..its the message! This morning I'm listening to Lacrae's 'Fear'...Lacrae's 'Nuthin'. Good exercise song BTW lol...and I also love Lacrae's 'All I Need Is You"....this man is a God loving man...cool message to youngster when many songs in the industry are telling our youth to be thugs, ballers....no...that only ends u in prison. My props to Lacrae! He keeps it real to our youth! My opinion that is. Being a songwriter makes me very versatile in all genre, but yes I do know its the message...not the person! God bless you all!

Hip Hop in it's secular form transcends religion and has created a unified global culture. I have been listening to Christian Hip Hop from day one and the genre has come a long way, top artists in my opinion Lecrae, KB, NF, Andy Mineo, Gemstones. There are a gang of artists on the come up tho.
