Ok so if people are breaking the laws anyway why have any laws at all? The point isn't that it's possible to stop all dangerous people from handling weapons. Just because some people are still going to break the law doesn't mean we shouldn't have them!

Take drugs for example. With your logic, there's no point in making heroin illegal because they'll still have access to some on the black market.

We need to prevent more horrible with mass-shootings, and one way is being sure that the people who have things that can kill a lot of people are known about!
 
America's gun laws are too strict.

Please note: I'm not sure I personally could ever use one on a person, especially not shoot to kill as I am a bit of a pacifist.

I am sorry I wasn't clear. I don't believe we need stronger gun laws,the laws we have just need to be enforced better.

No disrespect. :) I'm not sure where you drew any from, but apologies nonetheless.

Are you denying that there are dangerous gun owners out there? Because that's a fact. I'm not saying all gun owners are dangerous, but a gun is a powerful thing that can harm a lot of people, so keeping track of the people whose hands it falls into is a good idea BECAUSE there are insane people out there. Not because all gun owners are dangerous. In fact I'm sure the majority of gun owners are responsible people.

And there's a decent chance your job did perform a background check on you.

You're putting words into my mouth. We agree there are indecent and irresponsible people with and without guns, just as there are decent and responsible gun owners. I'm a little uncomfortable though with people being so impassioned with support of the second amendment, when there are morally pressing matters that have just as much - if not greater - sociological impacts, that need addressed as well.

And how do you know I'm not self employed? ;)
